Disentangling Excited States

open access: yes, 2020
In lattice gauge theory, understanding contributions from excited states is imperative for achieving high precision calculations. A variety of methods are available to extract excited states, such as fitting to multiple exponentials, Prony's method, and ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Chemical Bonding in Excited States: Electron Localization, Delocalization and Statistics in Real Space

open access: yes, 2019
In this contribution, we continue with our enterprise regarding the systematization of chemical bonding in excited states. We show how real space electron localization and delocalization measures, coupled to the statistical analysis of electron number ...

Estimating Molecular Thermal Averages with the Quantum Equation of Motion and Informationally Complete Measurements

open access: yesEntropy
By leveraging the Variational Quantum Eigensolver (VQE), the “quantum equation of motion” (qEOM) method established itself as a promising tool for quantum chemistry on near-term quantum computers and has been used extensively to estimate molecular ...

Effects of the excited states on electron kinetics and power absorption and dissipation in inductively coupled Ar plasmas

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2022
The effects of the excited states on electron kinetics as well as plasma power absorption and dissipation are numerically studied in radio frequency low-pressure inductively coupled Ar plasmas.

Entanglement of exact excited states of Affleck-Kennedy-Lieb-Tasaki models: Exact results, many-body scars, and violation of the strong eigenstate thermalization hypothesis

open access: yesPhysical review B, 2018
We obtain multiple exact results on the entanglement of the exact excited states of nonintegrable models we introduced in Phys. Rev. B 98, 235155 (2018)10.1103/PhysRevB.98.235155.

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Excited States of Xanthophylls Revisited: Towards the Simulation of Biologically Relevant Systems

open access: yes, 2021
Xanthophylls are an important class of oxygen containing carotenoids, which play a fundamental role both in light harvesting pigment-protein complexes and in many other photo-responsive proteins.

Inclusion of the excited states quark propagator to the nucleon electromagnetic form factors in the perturbative chiral quark model

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2020
Electromagnetic form factors of the nucleon are studied within the framework of the Perturbative Chiral Quark Model (PCQM). In a previous analysis of the nucleon electromagnetic form factors, the quark propagator used in the calculation was truncated to ...

In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.
