We quantified and cultured circulating tumor cells (CTCs) of 62 patients with various cancer types and generated CTC‐derived tumoroid models from two salivary gland cancer patients. Cellular liquid biopsy‐derived information enabled molecular genetic assessment of systemic disease heterogeneity and functional testing for therapy selection in both ...

Comment on Mente, O'Donnell, Rangarajan, et al. "Associations of urinary sodium excretion with cardiovascular events in individuals with an without hypertension: a pooled analysis of data from four studies" [PDF]
Mente, O'Donnell, Rangarajan, et al. ignore a possible source of bias that may invalidate their finding of an anticorrelation between sodium intake and cardiovascular ...

Resolving the B[e] star Hen 3-1191 at 10 microns with VLTI/MIDI [PDF]
We report spatially resolved, spectrally dispersed N-band observations of the B[e] star Hen 3-1191 with the MIDI instrument of the Very Large Telescope Interferometer. The object is resolved with a 40 m baseline and has an equivalent uniform disc diameter ranging from 24 mas at 8 microns to 36 mas at 13 microns.

This study simultaneously investigated circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and exosomes from small‐cell lung cancer (SCLC) patients. The elevated expression of JUNB and CXCR4 in CTCs was a poor prognostic factor for SCLC patients, whereas exosomal overexpression of these biomarkers revealed a high discrimination ability of patients from healthy individuals,

Reduction of Salmonella Shedding by Sows during Gestation in Relation to Its Fecal Microbiome
Pork meat is estimated to be responsible for 10–20% of human salmonellosis cases in Europe. Control strategies at the farm could reduce contamination at the slaughterhouse.

MET variants in the N‐lobe of the kinase domain, found in hereditary papillary renal cell carcinoma, require ligand stimulation to promote cell transformation, in contrast to other RTK variants. This suggests that HGF expression in the microenvironment is important for tumor growth in such patients. Their sensitivity to MET inhibitors opens the way for

Epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) and tumor‐infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) are associated with early breast cancer response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). This study evaluated EMT and TIL shifts, with immunofluorescence and RNA sequencing, at diagnosis and in residual tumors as potential biomarkers associated with treatment response.
