Existence and uniqueness of solutions for nonlocal p-Laplacian problems

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2016
We study the existence and uniqueness of positive solutions to a class of nonlocal boundary-value problems involving the p-Laplacian. Our main tools are a variant of the Schaefer's fixed point theorem, an inequality which suitably handles the p ...

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Existence and uniqueness for a p-Laplacian nonlinear eigenvalue problem

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2010
We consider the Dirichlet eigenvalue problem $$ -mathop{ m div}(| abla u|^{p-2} abla u ) =lambda | u|_q^{p-q}|u|^{q-2}u, $$ where the unknowns $uin W^{1,p}_0(Omega )$ (the eigenfunction) and $lambda >0$ (the eigenvalue), $Omega $ is an arbitrary ...

The entropy weak solution to a nonlinear shallow water wave equation including the Degasperis-Procesi model

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics
A nonlinear model, which characterizes motions of shallow water waves and includes the famous Degasperis-Procesi equation, is considered. The essential step is the derivation of the $ L^2(\mathbb{R}) $ uniform bound of solutions for the nonlinear model ...

Strength through diversity: how cancers thrive when clones cooperate

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumor heterogeneity can offer direct benefits to the tumor through cooperation between different clones. In this review, Kuiken et al. discuss existing evidence for clonal cooperativity to identify overarching principles, and highlight how novel technological developments could address remaining open questions.

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Perspectives in educating molecular pathologists on liquid biopsy: Toward integrative, equitable, and decentralized precision oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Liquid biopsy enables minimally invasive, real‐time molecular profiling through analysis of circulating biomarkers in biological fluids. This Perspective highlights the importance of training pathologists through integrative educational programs, such as the European Masters in Molecular Pathology, to ensure effective and equitable implementation of ...
