On the Existence and Uniqueness of the Eigenvalue Decomposition of a Parahermitian Matrix

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2018
This paper addresses the extension of the factorization of a Hermitian matrix by an eigenvalue decomposition (EVD) to the case of a parahermitian matrix that is analytic at least on an annulus containing the unit circle.

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Existence, Uniqueness, and Symmetry of Free-Entry Cournot Equilibrium: The Importance of Market Size and Technoligy Choice [PDF]

open access: yes
This article adds technology choice to a free-entry Cournot model with linear demand and constant marginal costs. Firms can choose from a discrete set of technologies.

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Existence and uniqueness for a Ginzburg-Landau system for superconductivity

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2020
We prove the existence of a unique solution for a time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau model in superconductivity under the Coulomb gauge. Also we prove the uniform-in-$\epsilon$ well-posedness of the solution, where $\epsilon$ is the coefficient of the ...

EXISTENCE AND UNIQUENESS OF CHAIN LADDER SOLUTIONS

open access: yesASTIN Bulletin, 2015
AbstractThe cross-classified chain ladder has a number of versions, depending on the distribution to which observations are subject. The simplest case is that of Poisson distributed observations, and then maximum likelihood estimates of parameters are explicit.

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...

Uniqueness and existence for perturbed focal boundary value problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Assuming a uniqueness assumption on the variational boundary value problems, uniqueness and existence is established for problems which generalize focal boundary value ...

Optimal pair of fixed points: existence, uniqueness and approximation

open access: yesFixed Point Theory and Algorithms for Sciences and Engineering
In this paper, we introduce a novel class of mappings, referred to as noncyclic generalized θ-contractions. By employing the geometric concept of W U C $WUC$ property in metric spaces, we establish new existence and convergence theorems for the fixed ...

Existence and Uniqueness of Second-Order Impulsive Delay Differential Systems

open access: yesAxioms
In this paper, we study the existence and uniqueness of second-order impulsive delay differential systems. Firstly, we define cosine-type and sine-type delay matrix functions, which are used to derive the solutions of the impulsive delay differential ...
