Solution of polynomial Lyapunov and Sylvester equations

open access: yes, 2006
A two-variable polynomial approach to solve the one-variable polynomial Lyapunov and Sylvester equations is proposed. Lifting the problem from the one-variable to the two-variable context gives rise to associated lifted equations which live on finite ...

PARP inhibitors induce a senescence phenotype in non‐small cell lung carcinoma cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Talazoparib is the most potent inducer of senescence among different PARP1 inhibitors in human NSCLC cells. In the absence of PARP, no senescence phenotype was observed, demonstrating that PARP1 is necessary for the induction of senescence by this inhibitor.

Second-Order L1 Schemes for Fractional Differential Equations

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
Difference schemes for the numerical solution of fractional differential equations rely on discretizations of the fractional derivative. In this paper, we obtain the second-order expansion formula for the L1 approximation of the Caputo fractional ...

Generalized multitime expansions for equations with slowly varying coefficients

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1984
The successive terms in a uniformly valid multitime expansion of the solutions of constant coefficient differential equations containing a small parameter ϵ may be obtained without resorting to secularity conditions if the time scales ti=ϵit(i=0,1,…) are

An Application of Convolution Expansions to an Infinite System of Differential Equations

open access: yesJournal of Differential Equations, 1995
The existence, uniqueness, and stability problems for an infinite system of nonlinear differential equations are discussed. This system describes the evolution of a discrete dynamic system with interactions. Such equations arise in many fields of physics, chemistry, and ecology.

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

"On Approximation of the Solutions to Partial Differential Equations in Finance" [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper proposes a general approximation method for the solutions to second-order parabolic partial differential equations (PDEs) widely used in finance through an extension of Léandre's approach(Léandre (2006,2008)) and the Bismut identiy(e.g ...

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Accelerated numerical schemes for deterministic and stochastic partial differential equations of parabolic type

open access: yes, 2013
First we consider implicit finite difference schemes on uniform grids in time and space for second order linear stochastic partial differential equations of parabolic type.
