Infection in Experimental Arthroplasties
Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1987Experimental bacterial infection following implant arthroplasties was investigated in rabbits. Bone cement and a stainless steel head and stem prosthesis were inserted after reaming of the femoral neck and shaft. Measured doses of Staphylococcus aureus were injected either into the femoral medullary cavity or intravenously.

Lysostaphin in Experimental Renal Infections
Journal of Bacteriology, 1967By use of a renal staphylococcal infection model in mice, single intravenous doses of lysostaphin ranging from 1.56 to 50 mg/kg were effective in: (i) controlling the staphylococcal population of kidneys, (ii) reducing the mortality rate, and (iii) clearing high numbers of kidneys of infection.

Experimental bagassosis: Role of infection
Environmental Research, 1983The pathological lesions of bagassosis have been reproduced in guinea pigs given bagasse fibers along with low doses of actinomycete spores. In the early stages, interstitial infiltration with lymphocytes and macrophages as seen in humans was noted.

Experimental Infection of Humans with Filariae
Clinical Infectious Diseases, 1991This report summarizes the findings of the 17 published studies involving humans who have been experimentally infected with filarial parasites. Over the past 60 years, 45 individuals have been deliberately infected with Wuchereria bancrofti, Brugia malayi, Brugia pahangi, Loa loa, Mansonella perstans, Mansonella ozzardi, and/or Onchocerca volvulus. Experimental studies on puerperal infection
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1934Abstract The Variation in Hemolytic Complement in Pregnant Rabbits From the results of an earlier study (1) we concluded that pregnancy in mice increases their susceptibility to streptococcus infection. Further experimental work (2, 3) has been undertaken for the purpose of investigating differences in certain of the factors involved in ...

Experimental Parvoviral Infection in Humans
Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1985Healthy adult volunteers were inoculated intranasally with human parvovirus obtained from an asymptomatic blood donor. One week after inoculation, intense viremia was observed in seronegative volunteers, accompanied by a mild illness with pyrexia, malaise, myalgia, itching, and excretion of virus from the respiratory tract.

Experimental Pox Infection in Waterfowl
Avian Diseases, 1967Avian pox is characterized by cutaneous lesions on the unfeathered parts of the bird, or by the appearance of diphtheritic lesions on the mucous membranes of the mouth and upper respiratory tract. The most serious outbreaks are said to occur in chickens, turkeys, canaries, and pigeons, but ducks, geese, pheasants, quail, hawks (3), and numerous wild ...

Infection in experimental hip arthroplasties
The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. British volume, 1985The relationship between the route of inoculation, the dose of inoculum and the development of infection after prosthetic replacement has been determined in an animal model. The rabbit hip served as the model and a Staphylococcus aureus isolated from an infected human hip arthroplasty was introduced using different protocols.

Experimental infection withBasidiobolus haptosporus
Mycopathologia, 1982The authors tried to reproduce experimentally the Basidiobolus haptosporus infection. Culture forms of the fungus were inoculated in 26 adult hamsters, in two newborn hamsters and in two marmosets. Oral, intratesticular, intrahepatic, intraperitonial and subcutaneous inoculations were made.

Experimental Mycoplasma Infection in Monkeys
Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 2002Experimental mycoplasma infection was studied in Papio hamadryas, Macaca mulatta, and Macaca nemestrina infected with Mycoplasma (M. pneumoniae and M. hominis) and Ureaplasma (U. urealyticum).
