Modal analysis of a turbo-pump shaft: An innovative suspending method to improve the results

open access: yesInternational Journal of Industrial Engineering and Production Research, 2008
Modal parameter extraction of high speed shafts is of critical importance in mechanical design of turbo-pumps. Due to the complex geometry and peripheral components of turbo-pumps, difficulties can arise in determination of modal parameters.

Experimental modal and FEM analysis of a historical building [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences
The CEDRAV building in Cerreto di Spoleto, originally a monastery, was built in the 14th century on the top of a rock ridge. The two seismic events that occurred on September 26th, 1997, with magnitude Ms=5.4 and Ms=6, respectively, caused some damages ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

New developments for experimental modal analysis of aircraft structures

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2015
This article presents an identification algorithm dedicated to the modal analysis of aircraft structures during flight-tests. More specifically, this algorithm was designed to process short duration tests carried out with multi-input excitations.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Modal Test Reference Selection for Experimental Modal Analysis.

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series C, 1999
The conventional method for modal test reference selection based on singular value decomposition of measured frequency response function matrices needs large numbers of selection processes, when many reference locations are initially proposed or many modes exist in the analysis frequency range. An alternative procedure to identify the least numbers and

Cluster analysis of multiple experimental pain modalities

open access: yesPain, 2005
Identifying individual differences in pain is an important topic; however, little is known regarding patterns of responses across various experimental pain modalities. This study evaluated subgroups emerging from multiple experimental pain measures. One hundred and eighty-eight individuals (59.0% female) completed several psychological instruments and ...
