Determination of Reduced and Oxidized Coenzyme Q10 in Canine Plasma and Heart Tissue by HPLC-ECD: Comparison with LC-MS/MS Quantification

open access: yesAntioxidants, 2019
Coenzyme Q10 (Q10) plays an important role in mammals for energy production in the mitochondria, and as a potent antioxidant. Oxidation ratio (% oxidized in relation to total Q10) has been proposed as an important biomarker.

A comparative study of mouse bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells isolated using three easy‐to‐perform approaches

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, 2022
Mouse bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (mBM‐MSCs) are important for preclinical tissue regeneration and repair studies. In the present study, we isolated mBM‐MSCs using three easy‐to‐perform methods (whole bone marrow‐adherent culture, density‐gradient

High-pressure experimental models of geological structures

open access: yes, 2010
In order to understand deformation processes that operated in large-scale, natural systems, experimental models can provide a crucial means of developing ideas concerning the interactions of sub-systems.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Investigation of the water environmental DNA/RNA profile for non‐invasive biomonitoring of the fish pathogen Aeromonas salmonicida subsp. salmonicida and detection of immune responses in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

open access: yesEnvironmental DNA
Aquaculture industries face challenges in fish production, primarily due to disease occurrence. Clinical manifestations of these diseases often indicate a considerable advancement in the pathological process.

Perspectives of FTIR as Promising Tool for Pathogen Diagnosis, Sanitary and Welfare Monitoring in Animal Experimentation Models: A Review Based on Pertinent Literature

open access: yesMicroorganisms
Currently, there is a wide application in the literature of the use of the Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) technique. This basic tool has also proven to be efficient for detecting molecules associated with hosts and pathogens in infections,

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
