Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

A stress free model for residual stress assessment using thermoelastic stress analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Thermoelastic Stress Analysis (TSA) has been proposed as a method of obtaining residual stresses. The results of a preliminary study demonstrated that when Al-2024 plate containing holes that were plastically deformed by cold expansion process to 2% and ...

Temperature robust PCA based stress monitoring approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, a guided wave temperature robust PCA-based stress monitoring methodology is proposed. It is based on the analysis of the longitudinal guided wave propagating along the path under stress.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Simulation and Experimental Validation of Stress Analysis for Train Coupler

open access: yesTikrit Journal of Engineering Sciences
This study investigates the stress distribution in a sand-cast steel train coupler by comparing experimental results with FEM simulation. Strain gauges were attached to the coupler body areas to measure stresses under varying loads ranging from 500 kN ...

Fatigue failure of materials under broad band random vibrations [PDF]

open access: yes
The fatigue life of material under multifactor influence of broad band random excitations has been investigated. Parameters which affect the fatigue life are postulated to be peak stress, variance of stress and the natural frequency of the system ...

Modelling plasticity of unsaturated soils in a thermodynamically consistent framework [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Constitutive equations of unsaturated soils are often derived in a thermodynamically consistent framework through the use a unique 'effective' interstitial pressure. This later is naturally chosen as the space averaged interstitial pressure.
