Comparative Evaluation of Hemodiafiltration, Hemoperfusion, and Standard Hemodialysis on Efficacy, Inflammatory Control, Dialysis Adequacy, and Safety in End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

Systematic Investigation of the Explicit, Dynamically Consistent Methods for Fisher’s Equation

open access: yesComputation
We systematically investigate the performance of numerical methods to solve Fisher’s equation, which contains a linear diffusion term and a nonlinear logistic term.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Implementation of multirate time integration methods for air pollution modelling [PDF]

open access: yesGeoscientific Model Development, 2012
Explicit time integration methods are characterised by a small numerical effort per time step. In the application to multiscale problems in atmospheric modelling, this benefit is often more than compensated by stability problems and step size ...

Simulating Extraocular Muscle Dynamics. A Comparison between Dynamic Implicit and Explicit Finite Element Methods

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
The finite element method has been widely used to investigate the mechanical behavior of biological tissues. When analyzing these particular materials subjected to dynamic requests, time integration algorithms should be considered to incorporate the ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Theory and Implementation of a Two-Step Unconditionally Stable Explicit Integration Algorithm for Vibration Analysis of Structures

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2016
Time history analysis is becoming the routine process to quantify the response of the structure under dynamic loads. In this paper, a novel two-step unconditionally stable explicit integration algorithm, named Unconditional Stable Two-Step Explicit ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Fast explicit time integration schemes for parabolic problems in mechanics [PDF]

open access: yes
We present a family of fast explicit time integration schemes of first, second and third order accuracy for parabolic problems in mechanics solved via standard numerical methods that have considerable higher computational efficiency versus existing ...
