ABSTRACT Background and Aims Dysbiosis is the substitution of the normal gut flora with a dysfunctional array of organisms that influences the outcome of multiple inflammatory pathways, contributing to systemic inflammation and various disease states. It has historically been understudied, with outcomes that may directly or indirectly cause pathologies.

Enteric Nervous System Damage by Food Contaminants: A Pathway to Neurodegeneration?
ABSTRACT The enteric nervous system (ENS), a key component of the gut–brain axis, has emerged as a critical player in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease (PD). It is the first neural system exposed to food contaminants (FCs)—a diverse group of ubiquitous toxic compounds fortuitously present in food derived from production, processing, storage, or ...

Exposome Shiny: a Toolbox for exposome data analysis
The exposome is a collection of environmental factors, such as air pollution, stress and diet, to which an individual is exposed and which can have an effect on health. There are several large projects aimed at the study of the exposome and their impact on human traits such as HELIX, EXPOsOMICS and Hercules among others.

Global consensus on the management of melanin hyperpigmentation disorders
A global Delphi consensus of 10 dermatology experts established evidence‐based recommendations for melanin hyperpigmentation disorders, providing unified classification, photoprotection guidance and treatment algorithms. This framework harmonizes terminology and supports individualized management across diverse skin types and health systems.

An evolutionary perspective for the exposome
Abstract The exposome was proposed following the realization that most human diseases have an environmental rather than a genetic (hereditary) origin. Non-communicable diseases are, in fact, the consequence of multiple exposures that activate a sequence of stages in a multistage process that already starts in early life.
