KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Extended versus bolus infusion of meropenem and piperacillin: a pharmacolcinetic analysis

open access: yes, 2014
Background. Extended infusion of beta-lactam antibiotics has been advocated as a method for optimizing antibiotic exposure in critically ill patients. The objective of this study was to compare the pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics of extended infusion ...

System-Wide Implementation of the Use of an Extended-Infusion Piperacillin/Tazobactam Dosing Strategy: Feasibility of Utilization From a Children\u27s Hospital Perspective [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background Use of extended infusions of piperacillin/tazobactam (PT) in adult patients has been described, but data in children are limited. Objective The goal of this study was to determine the feasibility of using an extended-infusion PT dosing ...

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Perception of risk factors for infusion phlebitis among Swedish nurses: a questionnaire study

open access: yes, 2004
This questionnaire study was set up to assess the perceptions of risk factors for infusion phlebitis among Swedish nurses, as their concepts of these factors may influence the incidence.

Case Report: Management of a case of multidrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae infection in a second-kidney transplant patient

open access: yesFrontiers in Transplantation
This case report on recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs) caused by multidrug-resistant (MDR) Klebsiella pneumoniae in a post-renal transplant patient underscores the significant clinical challenge of managing MDR infections in immunocompromised ...

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Impact of Extending Beta-Lactam Infusions on IV Access Requirements

open access: yesCritical Care Explorations
This study aimed to determine if extended infusion (EI; over > 3 hr) beta-lactam therapy increased IV access requirements compared with traditional dosing (TD; over 30 min). Eighty-six adult ICU patients treated with TD anti-pseudomonal beta-lactams who underwent therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) were included.
