Numerical Analysis of Interaction Effects in Double Extra-thick Coal Seams Mining

open access: yesProcedia Earth and Planetary Science, 2013
AbstractThe interaction effects in multi-seam mining depends on many factors such as local geological and geotechnical conditions, mining depth, seam sequencing, and mining method employed, etc. The paper discusses preliminary study on the interaction effects in underground mining of double extra-thick coal seams in Mae Moh coalfield in Thailand.

Mechanism and disaster control new technology of strong ground pressure manifestation in ultra‐large mining face

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
In response to the problem of strong mining pressure manifestation along the goaf roadway in a thick coal seam mining area, this study uses a new type of combined blasting roof cutting technology to effectively control the manifestation and deformation of mining pressure along the goaf roadway.

Study on burst risk assessment of coal seam in folded area based on pre-mining stress back analysis

open access: yesMeitan kexue jishu, 2023
In order to scientifically evaluate the impact risk of steeply inclined extra-thick coal seam in folded area and provide theoretical guidance for the prevention and control of rock burst, a numerical model including folds is established in this paper ...

Performance assessment of a potential underground thermal storage facility: Case study of the closed mine Prosper‐Haniel in the Ruhr coal mining area in Germany

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates the feasibility of an underground closed‐loop thermal storage facility at a post‐mining site, intended for seasonal heat energy storage. Its principal design shows water flow directions in winter and summer (1, 2), heat pumps (3), an upper water reservoir (4), and connecting pipes (5).

Mining technology and practice of full-solid waste cemented backfilling in narrow strip of extra-thick coal seam under buildings

open access: yesMeitan kexue jishu
There is a great amount of coal pressed under buildings in our country, while the discharge of coal-based industrial solid wastes such as coal gangue and fly ash are increasing, which has severely restricted the local economic and social development ...

Gas Distribution Law for the Fully Mechanized Top‐Coal Caving Face in a Gassy Extra‐Thick Coal Seam

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2018
Mine gas overflow is a serious threat to the safe and efficient longwall mining of gassy coal seams. Based on the field mining conditions and gas extraction of the fully mechanized top‐coal caving face of a gassy coal mine, the space volume fraction distribution and emission (extraction rate) of gas in the face were tested by an arrangement of ...

Exponentially‐constrained Gaussian mixture model for quantifying vertical development of water‐conducting fracture zones in lithologically stratified mining roofs

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study proposes an exponentially‐constrained Gaussian mixture model (EcGMM) to quantify vertical fracture heterogeneity in stratified roof strata. The model integrates a piecewise exponential decay term capturing global stress dissipation with Gaussian components representing localized fracture intensification at lithological interfaces.

Lithium Metal Anode Fabrication: Methods, Challenges, and Strategies

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of four representative fabrication techniques for thin lithium metal anodes: extrusion, molten lithium infusion, electroplating, and physical vapor deposition (PVD). ABSTRACT The pursuit of ultra‐high energy‐dense lithium‐metal batteries (LMBs) has reignited the drive to fabricate ultrathin high‐quality lithium metal anodes. This

Analysis of Surrounding Rock Control Technology and Its Application on a Dynamic Pressure Roadway in a Thick Coal Seam

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
The deformation control of roadways surrounded by rock in the fully mechanized amplification sections of extra-thick coal seams is problematic. To analyze the failure and failure characteristics of a support frame, as well as the deformation and failure ...
