The extremal function for K9= minors [PDF]
AbstractWe prove the extremal function for minors, where denotes the complete graph with two edges removed. In particular, we show that any graph with vertices and at least edges either contains a minor or is isomorphic to a graph obtained from disjoint copies of and by identifying cliques of size 5.

Use of Symptomatic Drug Treatment for Fatigue in Multiple Sclerosis and Patterns of Work Loss
ABSTRACT Objective To describe the use of central stimulants and amantadine for fatigue in MS and evaluate a potential association with reduced work loss in people with MS. Methods We conducted a nationwide, matched, register‐based cohort study in Sweden (2006 to 2023) using national registers with prospective data collection.

Prime numbers with a certain extremal type property
The convex hull of the subgraph of the prime counting function x → π(x) is a convex set, bounded from above by a graph of some piecewise affine function x → ε(x). The vertices of this function form an infinite sequence of points (ek,π(ek))1∞.

ABSTRACT Objective The Gold Coast criteria permit diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) even without upper motor neuron (UMN) signs. However, whether ALS patients with UMN signs (ALSwUMN) and those without (ALSwoUMN) share similar characteristics and prognoses remains unclear.

A 73‐Year‐Old Man With Several Years of Difficulty Climbing Stairs and Frequent Tripping
ABSTRACT A 73‐year‐old man presented with progressive weakness and atrophy predominantly affecting the distal finger flexors and quadriceps muscles. Electrophysiological studies demonstrated mixed myogenic and neurogenic features. Muscle MRI showed inflammatory changes, and muscle biopsy revealed granulomatous myositis with histologic features ...

Extremum statistics: a framework for data analysis [PDF]
Recent work has suggested that in highly correlated systems, such as sandpiles, turbulent fluids, ignited trees in forest fires and magnetization in a ferromagnet close to a critical point, the probability distribution of a global quantity (i.e ...

Scalar Dyon Production In Near Extremal Kerr-Newman Black Holes
The pair production of charged scalar dyons is analytically studied in near-extremal Kerr-Newman (KN) dyonic black holes. The pair production rate and its thermal interpretation are given.

Epilepsy‐Associated Variants of a Single SCN1A Codon Exhibit Divergent Functional Properties
ABSTRACT Objective Pathogenic variants in SCN1A, which encodes the voltage‐gated sodium channel NaV1.1, are associated with multiple epilepsy syndromes exhibiting a range of clinical severity. SCN1A variants are reported in different syndromes, including Dravet syndrome, which is associated with loss‐of‐function, whereas neonatal/infantile‐onset ...

Sex Representation in US Stroke Clinical Trials: A Decade of Trends and Challenges
ABSTRACT Objective Stroke remains a major cause of disability and mortality in the US, with significant sex‐based disparities, and females remain underrepresented in stroke clinical trials. We aimed to examine sex representation in US‐based stroke clinical trials, identify trial characteristics associated with higher female enrollment (≥ 50%), and ...

One-loop determinant in the extremal black hole from quasinormal modes
In this paper, we evaluate the one-loop partition function of a scalar field in the near-horizon geometry of the extremal Reissner Nordström black hole from an infinite product over quasinormal modes using the Denef-Hartnoll-Sachdev (DHS) formula.
