Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

The exponential map in non-commutative probability
The wrapping transformation $W$ is a homomorphism from the semigroup of probability measures on the real line, with the convolution operation, to the semigroup of probability measures on the circle, with the multiplicative convolution operation.

Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Image Matching by Using Fuzzy Transforms
We apply the concept of Fuzzy Transform (for short, F-transform) for improving the results of the image matching based on the Greatest Eigen Fuzzy Set (for short, GEFS) with respect to max-min composition and the Smallest Eigen Fuzzy Set (for short, SEFS)

Real positivity and approximate identities in Banach algebras [PDF]
Blecher and Read have recently introduced and studied a new notion of positivity in operator algebras, with an eye to extending certain $C^*$-algebraic results and theories to more general algebras.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Generalized integral Laplace transform and its application to solving some integral equations
We present integral transforms $\widetilde {\mathcal L}\left\{f(t);x\right\}$ and $\widetilde {\mathcal L}_{\gamma_1,\gamma_2,\gamma} \left\{f(t);x\right\}$, generalizing the classical Laplace transform.

Order theory and interpolation in operator algebras
We continue our study of operator algebras with and contractive approximate identities (cais). In earlier papers we have introduced and studied a new notion of positivity in operator algebras, with an eye to extending certain C*-algebraic results and ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Kinetic Theory of Collisionless Self-Gravitating Gases: Post-Newtonian Polytropes [PDF]
In this paper we study the kinetic theory of many-particle astrophysical systems and we present a consistent version of the collisionless Boltzmann equation in the 1PN approximation.
