Long-term IR Photometry of Seyferts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Long-term (up to 10000d) monitoring has been undertaken for 41 Seyferts in the near-IR (JHKL). All but 2 showed variability, with K ampl in the range 1.1 mags. The timescale for detectable change is from about one week to a few years.

The non-linear fluid dynamics of a warped accretion disc [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The dynamics of a viscous accretion disc subject to a slowly varying warp of large amplitude is considered. Attention is restricted to discs in which self-gravitation is negligible, and to the generic case in which the resonant wave propagation found in ...

Lactic Acid Bacteria from Kiwi: Antifungal and Biofilm-Inhibitory Activities Against Candida albicans

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Urogenital infections impact millions of individuals globally each year, with vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) being one of the most prevalent conditions affecting women. Candida albicans is the primary pathogen responsible for VVC.

F51. INTEGRATED COGNITIVE REMEDIATION THERAPY PREVENTS RELAPSES IN SCHIZOPHRENIA OUTPATIENTS DURING 8-YEARS FOLLOW-UP [PDF]

open access: yesSchizophrenia Bulletin, 2018
BACKGROUND: Relapse prevention is a major aim of any treatment for schizophrenia patients. In general, recent meta-analyses showed that one third of schizophrenia patients relapse in the first year after treatment, which corresponds with rehospitalization.

Thermodynamic properties and homogeneous nucleation rates for surface-melted physical clusters [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
We predict the free energy of van der Waals clusters (Fn) in the surface-melted temperature regime. These free energies are used to predict the bulk chemical potential, surface tension, Tolman length, and vapor pressure of noble gas crystals.

Collective effects in the collapse-revival phenomenon and squeezing in the Dicke model

open access: yes, 1998
Resonant interaction of a collection of two-level atoms with a single-mode coherent cavity field is considered in the framework of the Dicke model. We focus on the role of collective atomic effects in the phenomenon of collapses and revivals of the Rabi ...

Alcoholic extracts of Russian sage (Salvia yangii) contain bioactive terpenoids with inhibitory activity against grapevine downy mildew (Plasmopara viticola)

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Alcoholic extracts from flowers, leaves, and shoots of Russian sage decreased downy mildew severity on grapevine leaf disks. Fractionation followed by metabolomic analysis revealed putative terpenoids as the main components of the active fractions. Specifically, 7‐methylrosmanol, 12‐O‐methylcarnosic acid, carnosic acid, and carnosol were identified as ...
