Directional Flow of Confined Polaritons in CrSBr

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
CrSBr, a layered magnetic semiconductor, naturally channels self‐hybridized excitonpolaritons into highly directional flow. Its intrinsic optical anisotropy, high refractive index, and strong lightmatter coupling enable long‐range guided modes along the a‐axis, with propagation lengths set by their excitonphoton admixture.

Slow-light plasmonic metamaterial based on dressed-state analog of electromagnetically-induced transparency

open access: yes, 2015
We consider a simple configuration for realizing one-dimensional slow-light metamaterials with large bandwidth-delay products using stub-shaped Fabry-Perot resonators as building blocks.

Integrating Vibrio natriegens for Photon Manipulation in Living Lighting Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Rationalization of genetic and material engineering tools has enabled the engineering of fluorescent Vibrio natriegens (V. natriegens) to fabricate straightforward, highly emissive and stable V. natriegens‐silicones color filters for the first red‐emitting bacteria‐hybrid light‐emitting diodes. This pinpoints V. natriegens as a high‐performance protein

Calculating the Fine Structure of a Fabry-Perot Resonator using Spheroidal Wave Functions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A new set of vector solutions to Maxwell's equations based on solutions to the wave equation in spheroidal coordinates allows laser beams to be described beyond the paraxial approximation.

Transducers Across Scales and Frequencies: A System‐Level Framework for Multiphysics Integration and Co‐Design

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...

Diffractively coupled Fabry-Perot resonator with power-recycling

open access: yes, 2011
We demonstrate the optical coupling of two cavities without light transmission through a substrate. Compared to a conventional coupling component, that is a partially transmissive mirror, an all-reflective coupler avoids light absorption in the substrate

Stabilizing continuous-wave output in semiconductor lasers by time-delayed feedback [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The stabilization of steady states is studied in a modified Lang-Kobayashi model of a semiconductor laser. We show that multiple time-delayed feedback, realized by a Fabry-Perot resonator coupled to the laser, provides a valuable tool for the suppression

Tunable Extraordinary Optical Transmission in the Long‐Wavelength Infrared Range Using Electrostatic MEMS Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A MEMS‐integrated metamaterial filter enables continuous, low‐voltage spectral tuning in the long‐wavelength infrared (LWIR). The device employs extraordinary optical transmission in a dual suspended metasurface stack, where electrostatic actuation precisely controls the intermembrane air gap.

Engineering photonic Floquet Hamiltonians through Fabry–Pérot resonators

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2016
In this paper we analyze an optical Fabry–Pérot resonator as a time-periodic driving of the (2D) optical field repeatedly traversing the resonator, uncovering that resonator twist produces a synthetic magnetic field applied to the light within the ...

An insight into polarization states of solid-state organic lasers

open access: yes, 2012
The polarization states of lasers are crucial issues both for practical applications and fundamental research. In general, they depend in a combined manner on the properties of the gain material and on the structure of the electromagnetic modes.
