Statistical modelling of citation exchange among statistics journals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Scholarly journal rankings based on citation data are often met with skepticism by the scientific community. Part of the skepticism is due to the discrepancy between the common perception of journals' prestige and their ranking based on citation counts ...

The Oral Health Impact Profile-14:: a unidimensional scale?

open access: yesCadernos de Saúde Pública
The aim of this study was to investigate the dimensional structure of the Oral Health Impact Profile-14: (OHIP-14). Data was obtained from studies carried out in Rio de Janeiro (N = 504) and Carlos Barbosa (N = 872), in the State of Rio Grande do Sul ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Statistical analysis in orthodontic journals: are we ignoring confounding? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
AIM To assess the prevalence of adjustment for confounding within statistical analysis and matching at the design stage in leading orthodontic journals and to explore potential associations between accounting for confounding and publication ...

Evaluation of simulated responses to climate forcings : a flexible statistical framework using confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modelling – Part 2: Numerical experiment

open access: yes, 2022
The performance of a new statistical framework, developed for the evaluation of simulated temperature responses to climate forcings against temperature reconstructions derived from climate proxy data for the last millennium, is evaluated in a so-called ...

STATISTICAL FACTOR ANALYSIS OF THE SLAGS CHARACTERISTICS OF STEEL-MAKING

open access: yesЛитьë и металлургия, 2005
The regression equations, reflecting interaction of the slag characteristics and its chemical composition, are received on the basis of multivariate regressive analysis using empirical evidence.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

The determination of factors in linear models of factor analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
summary:The author shows that a decomposition of a covariance matrix $\bold{\sum = AA'}$ implies the corresponding model, i.e. the existence of factors $f_j$ such that $\sum a_{ij}f_j$ is true.
