Reduced rank regression for mixed predictor and response variables

open access: yesBritish Journal of Mathematical and Statistical Psychology, Volume 79, Issue 1, Page 173-206, February 2026.
Abstract In this paper, we propose the generalized mixed reduced rank regression method, GMR3 for short. GMR3 is a regression method for a mix of numeric, binary and ordinal response variables. The predictor variables can be a mix of binary, nominal, ordinal and numeric variables. For dealing with the categorical predictors we use optimal scaling.

Evaluation of the pollution pressures posed by groups of chemicals on British riverine invertebrate populations

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 1, Page 106-127, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Globally, rivers receive a diverse range of chemicals, including metals, pesticides, persistent organic pollutants, petrochemicals, human and veterinary pharmaceuticals and personal care products. However, the extent to which these different chemical groups affect riverine invertebrate communities is not well defined.

Evaluating Post‐Survey Otolith Subsampling Strategies for a Small‐Bodied, Fast‐Growing Pelagic Fish for Inclusion in Stock Assessments

open access: yesFisheries Management and Ecology, Volume 33, Issue 1, Page 24-39, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Identifying efficient otolith subsampling strategies that maintain data quality for stock assessments is imperative given limited resources to meet age‐estimation demands of managed fish stocks. Our objective was to evaluate the performance of three different subsampling strategies: (1) fixed otolith subsampling, (2) proportional otolith ...
