Primary Erythrocytosis (Polycythaemia) in a Neutered Male Dog Presenting With Right Hindlimb Lameness

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 6, November 2026.
A young dog presented with progressive unilateral hindlimb lameness and marked erythrocytosis. Diagnostic investigations excluded secondary causes and confirmed primary erythrocytosis. Targeted vascular ultrasonography identified a right external iliac venous thrombus as the suspected cause of lameness.

Defined Dinuclear Nickel Sites on Mesoporous Silica Translate Molecular Surface Mimics to Heterogeneous Catalysis

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 42, 12 October 2026.
The cooperative reactivity characteristic of molecular dinuclear nickel complexes is transferred to mesoporous silica through a systematic immobilization strategy. The resulting material preserves the key features of the bimetallic motif within a robust heterogeneous framework, demonstrating how molecular design principles can be translated into well ...

Genome Aging in Women: Hematopoietic Loss of X Chromosome as An Exemplar

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 11, November 2026.
As studies at the intersection of genetics and aging are rapidly advancing, genome aging provides a novel mechanism by which aging phenotypes occur. In this Review, the authors examine the rise, expansion, and the consequences of X chromosome loss in female blood cells.

Targeting protein–protein interactions with reversible covalent modalities: Non‐cysteine chemistries

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 22, Page 6607-6626, November 2026.
Abstract Protein–protein interactions (PPIs) are central to diverse cellular functions, and represent a rapidly expanding class of therapeutic targets. Advancements in covalent drug design have enabled small‐molecule drugs to overcome challenges associated with engaging these targets, such as limited durations of action and difficult‐to‐drug (expansive,

ZmMS1 coordinates ROS homeostasis, lipid allocation, and male fertility for maize breeding applications

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, Volume 68, Issue 11, Page 4030-4051, November 2026.
The redox‐sensitive transcriptional repressor ZmMS1 coordinates reactive oxygen species homeostasis and lipid allocation for pollen exine and anther cuticle formation. Loss or precocious expression of ZmMS1 causes male sterility. Constitutive overexpression induces dwarfism and semi‐sterility. These findings enable flexible maize male‐sterility systems

Andexanet for Factor Xa Inhibitor-Associated Acute Intracerebral Hemorrhage. [PDF]

open access: yes
BACKGROUND Patients with acute intracerebral hemorrhage who are receiving factor Xa inhibitors have a risk of hematoma expansion. The effect of andexanet alfa, an agent that reverses the effects of factor Xa inhibitors, on hematoma volume expansion ...

Extending the Farquhar–von Caemmerer–Berry photosynthesis model to account for various photorespiratory bypasses

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 252, Issue 3, Page 1327-1342, November 2026.
We extend a widely used C3‐photosynthesis model to account for various photorespiratory bypasses, thereby, providing a useful resource and framework that enforces future novel bypass work and scrutinize if the results go counter to theory. Our model analyses show that of the 17 published bypass pathways, full‐decarboxylating bypasses (that have been ...

Plant‐Based Production of Human Major Histocompatibility Complex Class II Molecules

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 11, Page 5616-5630, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Major histocompatibility complex class II (MHC II) protein triggers adaptive immune responses by presenting antigens on antigen‐presenting cells (APCs) to be recognised by CD4+ T cells. Recombinant MHC II proteins are effective for the analysis of peptide‐binding interaction, detection of antigen‐specific T‐cells and clinical testing for donor‐
