Assessment of Thrombin Generation in Pediatric Patients on Extracorporeal Life Support: Impact of Bivalirudin and Other Anticoagulants

open access: yesInternational Journal of Laboratory Hematology, Volume 48, Issue 6, Page 1472-1476, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Bivalirudin is an alternative anticoagulant to heparin and is widely used in pediatric extracorporeal life support (ECLS). Its activity is monitored using activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) and/or more specific tests such as plasma‐diluted thrombin time (dTT).

Fibrilpaint: A Class of Amyloid‐Targeting Peptides

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 32, Issue 41, 3 November 2026.
FibrilPaints are modular peptides engineered to recognize amyloid fibrils. By systematically varying charge, sequence, and termini, their binding behavior can be tuned while retaining recognition. Successful binding ″paints″ fibrils for visualization and opens routes toward targeted degradation and diagnostic applications.

Is There an Alternative Oral Anticoagulation to Vitamin-K-Antagonists for Patients with Mechanical Aortic Valve Replacement? – A Literature Review

open access: yesCardiology and Therapy
Current guidelines exclusively recommend vitamin-K-antagonists (VKA) as anticoagulation for patients after mechanical aortic valve replacement due to the increased postoperative risk of valve thrombosis and thrombo-embolism.

Dysregulation of the MACF1‐Rab14/KIF16B‐FGFR Vesicular Trafficking Axis Skews MSC Lineage Commitment in Glucocorticoid‐Induced Osteoporosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 61, 3 November 2026.
Under normal conditions, MACF1 interacts with Rab14 and facilitates KIF16B‐mediated FGFR vesicle trafficking along microtubules to the plasma membrane, thereby supporting BMSC differentiation. In contrast, chronic GC exposure suppresses MACF1 expression, disrupting this transport and causing intracellular FGFR retention, which blunts osteogenic ...

Cyclin kinase inhibitor p21: a mediator of immune tolerance: direct and indirect evidence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
*Background:* Uncontrolled proliferation of T-cells is considered a barrier to the induction of transplantation tolerance by T regulatory cells. Therefore, cyclin kinase inhibitor p21, one of the most potent inhibitors of cell proliferation, may exert an

Diblock Copolymer Nanoparticles Act as Nanoreactors for the Synthesis of Sterically‐Stabilized Inorganic Oxide Particles in Non‐polar Media

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 44, 26 October 2026.
Poly(lauryl methacrylate)‐poly(2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (PLMA‐PHEMA) diblock copolymer nanoparticles prepared in non‐polar media serve as nanoreactors for the in situ synthesis of silica from tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS). A silica mass loading of 17% as judged by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) produces a highly transparent dispersion, and ...

Possibilities of adaptive design implementation in clinical trials of next-in-class drugs

open access: yesРегуляторные исследования и экспертиза лекарственных средств, 2018
The article investigates the possibility of streamlining the methodology of clinical studies of next-in-class drugs by implementing an adaptive design. Next-in-class drugs are original drugs with known biological targets, similar in structure and mode of

Impact of parameter settings on the estimation of drug exposure with the individualized dispensing patterns method

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 92, Issue 11, Page 3982-3991, November 2026.
Aim To assess the impact of parameter settings when using the individualized dispensing patterns (IDP) method to estimate exposure duration from dispensing data. Methods We conducted a cohort study using a 2% representative sample of the French healthcare insurance database from 2013 to 2022.
