Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Faithful representations of SL2 over truncated Witt vectors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Let Γ2 be the six-dimensional linear algebraic k-group SL2(W2), where W2 is the ring of Witt vectors of length two over the algebraically closed field k of characteristic p>2.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Semi-Honest 2-Party Faithful Truncation from Two-Bit Extraction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
As a fundamental operation in fixed-point arithmetic, truncation can bring the product of two fixed-point integers back to the fixed-point representation.

THE LEFT REGULAR REPRESENTATION OF A COMMUTATIVE SEPARATIVE SEMIGROUP [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Sciences, Islamic Republic of Iran, 1992
In this paper, a commutative semigroup will be written as a disjoint union of its cancellative subsemigroups. Based on this fact we will define the left regular representation of a commutative separative semigroup and show that this representation is ...

On AdS4 superspace and supergravity

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
In the N = 1 superspace, AdS4 supersymmetry is realized as the non-linear super coordinate transformations. The fermionic coordinates form a faithful non-linear representation of supersymmetry on their own.

Financial Information Quality Between Numerical Accuracy and Comprehensibility: Effects on Investment Decisions in the Context of the Bucharest Stock Exchange

open access: yesInternational Journal of Financial Studies
The informational efficiency of stock prices is conditioned by the level of quality of financial reports, contributing to an accurate assessment of the company’s future performance. By approaching informational quality from two perspectives, we conducted

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

On faithful irreducible projective representations of finite groups over a field of characteristic p [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Let K be a field of finite characteristic p and G a finite group with a normal Sylow p-subgroup. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for G to have a faithful irreducible projective representation over K.
