Introducing ultrasonic falling film evaporator for moderate temperature evaporation enhancement

open access: yesUltrasonics Sonochemistry, 2018
In the present study, Ultrasonic Falling Film (USFF), as a novel technique has been proposed to increase the evaporation rate of moderate temperature liquid film. It is a proper method for some applications which cannot be performed at high temperature, such as foodstuff industry, due to their sensitivity to high temperatures.

Numerical analysis and optimization of falling film evaporation with tangential inlet for saline wastewater treatment

open access: yesWater Cycle, 2023
Both the flow state of the liquid film and the heat transfer effect all affected the efficiency of falling film evaporation directly. In this study, based on computational fluid dynamics and orthogonal tests, numerical simulations were performed for ...

Monitoring spatially heterogeneous dynamics in a drying colloidal thin film [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We report on a new type of experiment that enables us to monitor spatially and temporally heterogeneous dynamic properties in complex fluids. Our approach is based on the analysis of near-field speckles produced by light diffusely reflected from the ...

Evaluating volume reduction of clarified acid bovine milk whey via falling film vacuum evaporation

open access: yesCiencia y Tecnología Agropecuaria, 2021
This research evaluates the effect of falling film vacuum evaporation on the characteristics of clarified acid bovine milk whey. The clarified acid whey was obtained by microfiltration (ceramic membranes, 0.2 µm cut-off, ∆TMP: 2 bar) and concentrated by

Modeling of a falling film evaporator [PDF]

open access: yesLinköping Electronic Conference Proceedings, 2012
Falling film evaporators have demonstrated a good performance in air-conditioning and refrigeration. This paper presents the development of a detailed falling film evaporator model. The model is based on classical Newton’s viscosity law and Nusselt falling film theory.

Desalination of shale gas produced water: a rigorous design approach for zero-liquid discharge evaporation systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Shale gas has recently emerged as a promising energy source to face the increasing global demand. This paper introduces a new rigorous optimization model for the simultaneous synthesis of single and multiple-effect evaporation (SEE/MEE) systems ...

Upscaling multi-component two-phase flow in porous media with partitioning coefficient [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper deals with the upscaling of multicomponents two-phase flow in porous media. In this paper, chemical potential equilibrium at the interface between both phases is assumed to be described by a linear partitioning relationship such as Raoult or ...
