Complaints Involving Sonographers: What Three Decades of Cases From A Public New Zealand Database Can Teach Us

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, EarlyView.
Health consumer complaints to the New Zealand Health and Disability Commissioner involving sonographers are rare, totalling 15 in the last 31 years and averaging 1.5 cases per year over the last decade. A large proportion of complaints involve an undetected finding, obstetric examination and private setting.

Development and External Validation of a Postoperative Risk Score for Venous Thromboembolism in Epithelial Ovarian Cancer

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Venous thromboembolism (VTE), including deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, is a major complication in women with epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). We aimed to develop and externally validate an early postoperative risk score to identify EOC patients at increased risk of VTE after debulking surgery.

Primary squamous cell carcinoma of fallopian tube

open access: yes, 1994
We present a case of primary squamous cell carcinoma of the fallopian tube, the third case in the English literature. To make this diagnosis, metastasis from genital and nongenital squamous cell carcinoma should be excluded.

Ultrastructure of fallopian tube carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yesCancer, 1978
Fallopian tube carcinoma is one of the rarest of primary gynecologic malignancies. Normal tubal epithelium is composed of secretory, ciliated, and intercalary cells. To determine the cellular composition and ultrastructural details of this rare neoplasm, a moderately well-differentiated tubal carcinoma was studied with the electron microscope.

Menopausal hormone therapy after ovarian cancer: A 10‐year survival analysis in premenopausal women

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
Among premenopausal women surgically treated for ovarian cancer, no difference in 10‐year overall survival was observed between postoperative MHT users and non‐users. Young ovarian cancer survivors should be recommended MHT after surgically induced menopause.

What is the true incidence of primary fallopian tube carcinoma?

open access: yes, 1994
Fallopian tube carcinoma can be histologically indistinguishable from and has a similar clinical behavior to epithelial ovarian carcinoma. However, it is considerably less common; only approximately 1000 cases have been recorded in the literature. In the

Effect of opportunistic salpingectomy at hysterectomy on anti‐Müllerian hormone: A substudy of a randomized trial

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
Noninferiority of opportunistic salpingectomy during benign hysterectomy compared with hysterectomy‐only concerning ovarian function measured by anti‐Müllerian hormone 1 year after surgery could not be declared. Studies with clinical outcomes related to ovarian function are still needed.

Mutational Signature‐Based Biomarker for Phase II Trial of Olaparib Maintenance in Advanced High‐Grade Ovarian Cancer

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
A whole‐exome sequencing–based mutational signature biomarker (MSBM) identified an HRD‐enriched population in advanced ovarian cancer. In a phase II trial, olaparib maintenance suggested clinically meaningful PFS benefit without bevacizumab, supporting MSBM as a complementary HRD assessment approach.

PRIMARY CARCINOMA OF THE FALLOPIAN TUBE [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Medical Association, 1911
It is a well-known fact that no portion of the body is immune to the invasion of carcinoma. The more ready exposure of certain portions of the structure to traumatism renders its appearance in such tissues more probable. It is not surprising, then, that the cervix, exposed as it is to frequent injury in coitus and the course of pregnancy, should be the
