Orinoco: Retrieving a River Delta Network with the Fast Marching Method and Python

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2020
We present Orinoco, an open-source Python toolkit that applies the fast-marching method to derive a river delta channel network from a water mask and ocean delineation.

MSFM-Based Seismic Traveltime Calculation Using Coarse-Grid Interpolation [PDF]

open access: yesLithosphere
Computing seismic traveltime constitutes an essential task for seismic imaging and inversion processes. Accurate traveltime computation provides essential parameters for simulating seismic wave propagation, locating seismic sources, establishing velocity

Time-Marching Throughflow Analysis of Centrifugal Compressors with Boundary Conditions Based on Newton’s Method

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
The meridional distribution of the flow parameters inside the centrifugal compressor is of great importance to its overall performance, as well as its matching performance under a thermal cycle.

A multilevel fast-marching method

open access: yes, 2022
We introduce a new numerical method to approximate the solutions of a class of static Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equations arising from minimum time optimal control problems. We rely on several grid approximations, and look for the optimal trajectories by using the coarse grid approximations to reduce the search space for the optimal trajectories in fine ...

Molecular cancer prevention: Intercepting disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Oncological practice must evolve, from treating established tumours to proactive cancer interception before clinical manifestation. This will require mechanistic insight into tumour initiation, validated biomarkers of early disease development and redesigned clinical trials, enabling cancer interception to become a core pillar of oncology with the ...

The cooperative regulation of miR‐221 by APE1 and AUF1 impacts p27Kip1 defining a miR signature relevant for cervical cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A regulatory axis involving APE1, AUF1, and miR‐221 is proposed. Pri‐miR‐221 is processed by DROSHA and DICER to generate mature miR‐221, which targets p27Kip1 mRNA. APE1 and AUF1 compete for pre‐miR‐221 binding. Reduced APE1/AUF1 levels impair miR‐221 biogenesis, decrease p27Kip1 mRNA degradation, and promote cell cycle progression, chemoresistance ...

PATH PLANNING OF TRACTOR-TRAILER ROBOT BY FAST MARCHING METHODE (FMM) [PDF]

open access: yesمجله مدل سازی در مهندسی, 2013
This paper deals with motion planning of Tractor-trailer robots, which are car-like robot dragging several trailers with no driving force. Each trailer has a nonholonomic kinematic constraint which increases the complexity of the path planning problem ...

Fiber-Flux Diffusion Density for White Matter Tracts Analysis: Application to Mild Anomalies Localization in Contact Sports Players

open access: yes, 2017
We present the concept of fiber-flux density for locally quantifying white matter (WM) fiber bundles. By combining scalar diffusivity measures (e.g., fractional anisotropy) with fiber-flux measurements, we define new local descriptors called Fiber-Flux ...

CX3CL1 in Early Detection of Alzheimer's Disease: Plasma Dynamics Across Age and Disease Stages

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Backgrounds Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by amyloid‐beta plaques, tau tangles, and neuroinflammation. C‐X3‐C motif chemokine ligand 1 (CX3CL1, also known as fractalkine), a neuroimmune chemokine implicated in AD pathogenesis, shows inconsistent alterations in plasma/serum across studies.

Curve Matching Using the Fast Marching Method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Common techniques for curve alignment find a solution in the form of a shortest network path by means of dynamic programming. In this paper we present an approach that employs Sethian’s Fast Marching Method to find the solution with sub-resolution accuracy and in consistence with the underlying continuous problem.
