Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

The fatty acid composition of brain sphingolipids: sphingomyelin, ceramide, cerebroside, and cerebroside sulfate

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1964
Sphingomyelin, ceramide, cerebroside, and cerebroside sulfate from beef brain were isolated by column chromatography in quantitative yield and in pure form. The fatty acid composition of each sphingolipid was determined by gas-liquid chromatography (GLC).

Ontogenetic and temporal variability in the fat content and fatty acid composition of Atlantic herring (Clupea harengus) from the Bay of Fundy, Canada [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Atlantic herring (Clupea harengus) is an ecologically and economically valuable species in many food webs, yet surprisingly little is known about the variation in the nutritional quality of these fish.

Comparison of fatty acid profile in lamb meat and baby food based on lamb meat [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The aim of this study was to compare the fatty acid (FA) profile of fresh lamb meat with those of baby foods based on lamb meat. For this purpose, samples of commercial homogenized (HO) and lyophilized (LIO) baby food based on lamb meat and fresh lamb ...

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

ALTERATION OF LIPID COMPOSITION OF BLUE MUSSELS MYTILUS EDULIS L. AS A RESULT OF THEIR ACCLIMATION TO LABORATORY CONDITIONS

open access: yesTransactions of the Karelian Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 2015
Organ-specific modifications and assimilation of trophic lipids, primarily of their fatty acids, were shown in the study of compensatory lipid and fatty acid composition changes in blue mussels Mytilus edulis L.

Comparison of the Fatty Acid Composition and Small Molecular Metabolites between Yanjin Blackbone Chicken and Piao Chicken Meat

open access: yesFood Science of Animal Resources, 2023
The fatty acid composition and small molecular metabolites in breast and leg meat of Yanjin blackbone chickens (YBC) and Piao chickens (PC) were detected by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography-quadrupole static field orbital ...

Influence of Dietary Fats and Carbohydrates on Lipid Metabolism in Male and Female Rats [PDF]

open access: yes, 1976
Effects of dietary fats and carbohydrates on lipid metabolism in rats were studied. Male and female 4-week-old rats were divided into 8 groups and fed 4 fat-carbohydrate combinations (beef tallow or safflower oil, each with either sucrose or rice starch).

Genome-Wide Association Study of Genetic Control of Seed Fatty Acid Biosynthesis in Brassica napus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Fatty acids and their composition in seeds determine oil value for nutritional or industrial purposes and also affect seed germination as well as seedling establishment.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...
