3,7,11,15-Tetramethylhexadecanoic acid, a constituent of butterfat*
By subjecting the fatty acid methyl esters from butterfat to fractional distillation, urea fractionation, and preparative gas-liquid chromatography, a fatty acid was isolated that was characterized and identified as 3,7,11,15-tetramethylhexadecanoic acid.

NMR Spectra of Fatty Acid Methyl Esters

Preparation of fatty acid methyl esters for gas-liquid chromatography [PDF]
A convenient method using commercial aqueous concentrated HCl (conc. HCl; 35%, w/w) as an acid catalyst was developed for preparation of fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) from sterol esters, triacylglycerols, phospholipids, and FFAs for gas-liquid chromatography (GC).

Exploring fatty acid methyl esters
The search for alternative fuels led to the development of biodiesel research. However, in order for biodiesel to meet the prescribed standards, it must first fulfil the proportion of fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) in its composition. Among several possible methods for the determination of FAME, the standard prescribes the use of gas chromatography ...

Quantitative analysis of fatty acid precursors in marine samples
To apply fatty acid analyses to the study of foraging ecology and diet determination, all compounds that may be deposited as fatty acids in a predator must be quantified in the prey.

Two-column gas-liquid chromatography of fatty acid methyl esters
Fatty acid methyl esters were separated into fractions according to chain length on a nonpolar gas-liquid chromatographic Column. These fractions were collected and rechromatographed on a polar column. Temperature programming was used in both cases. Data
