From energy provision to protein synthesis: Tunnelling nanotubes as mediators of intercellular metabolic cooperation in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

Unsaturated fatty acids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Fatty acids are long-chain hydrocarbons. They are called unsaturated fatty acids when they lack the maximum possible number of hydrogen atoms attached to every carbon atom. For example, if stearic acid, which has 18 carbon atoms and frequently occurs in animal and plant fats, is missing 2 hydrogen atoms, then a double bond is present and the resulting ...

Natural Products as Geroprotective Modulators in Diabetic Nephropathy: A Mechanistic Framework Integrating Aging Hallmarks and the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 Axis

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Natural products target the aging kidney in diabetic nephropathy by restoring the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 axis, reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, fibrosis, and cellular senescence while enhancing mitochondrial biogenesis and antioxidant defenses.

ЖИРНОКИСЛОТНЫЙ СОСТАВ МОЛОКА КОРОВ ГОЛШТИНСКОЙ ПОРОДЫ

open access: yesАлматы технологиялық университетінің хабаршысы, 2021
The article presents materials on the determination milk fatty-acid composition of Holsteincows. The fatty acid composition of the sample by the ratio of the mass fractions of methyl esters of fatty acids corresponds to the ratio of the mass fractions of

Determination of chlorinated fatty acids using SPE, XSD and GC/MS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Chlorinated fatty acids (ClFAs) account for a considerable portion of the extractable, organically bound chlorine (EOCl) in aquatic animals. Because of analytical difficulties little is as of yet known about their behaviour in organisms.

Three-year tracking of fatty acid composition of plasma phospholipids in healthy children [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Objectives: The fatty acid composition of plasma phospholipids reflects the dietary fatty acid intake as well as endogenous turnover. We aimed at investigating the potential tracking of plasma phospholipid fatty acid composition in children that ...

Aging Is a Key Driver for Adult Acute Myeloid Leukemia

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a classical age‐related hematologic malignancy, and a key driver of AML is aging, which profoundly regulates intrinsic factors such as genomic instability, epigenetic reprogramming, and metabolic dysregulation, and alters bone marrow microenvironment.

Micronutrients, omega-3 fatty acids and cognitive performance in Indian schoolchildren

open access: yes, 2009
In developing countries, approximately 30-40% of school-age children suffer from iodine and iron deficiencies. Poverty and consumption of monotonous diets are underlying causes of inadequate intakes of micronutrients and omega-3 fatty acids and may have ...

FADS Gene Cluster Polymorphisms: Important Modulators of Fatty Acid Levels and Their Impact on Atopic Diseases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFAs) play an important role in several physiological processes and their concentration in phospholipids has been associated with several complex diseases, such as atopic disease.
