Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Seasonal changes of fatty acids in Nerita textiles on intertidal area of Chabahar Bay (Oman Sea)

open access: yes‬‭Majallah-i ̒Ilmī-i Shīlāt-i Īrān, 2012
The aim of this research was to identify and isolate the fatty acids composition of Nerita textiles in intertidal area of Chabahar Bay, and also to explore the seasonal changes of fatty acid content in Nerita textiles.

Is There a Fatty Acid Taste? [PDF]

open access: yesAnnual Review of Nutrition, 2009
Taste is a chemical sense that aids in the detection of nutrients and guides food choice. A limited number of primary qualities comprise taste. Accumulating evidence has raised a question about whether fat should be among them. Most evidence indicates triacylglycerol is not an effective taste stimulus, though it clearly contributes sensory properties ...

The inhibition of T-lymphocyte proliferation by fatty acids is via an eicosanoid-independent mechanism

open access: yes, 1992
Eicosanoids, in particular prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), are potent inhibitors of a number of immune responses, including lymphocyte proliferation. We have previously shown that fatty acids, especially polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), inhibit mitogen ...

Allosteric inhibition of cobalt binding to albumin by fatty acids : implications for the detection of myocardial ischemia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The biomarker "ischemia-modified albumin" (IMA), measured by the albumin-cobalt-binding assay (ACB assay), is the only FDA-approved biomarker for early diagnosis of myocardial ischemia.

Erythropoietin modulates hepatic inflammation, glucose homeostasis, and soluble epoxide hydrolase and epoxides in high‐fat diet‐induced obese mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Erythropoietin administration suppresses hepatic soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) expression, leading to increased CYP‐derived epoxides. This is associated with a shift in hepatic macrophage polarization characterized by reduced M1 markers and increased M2 markers, along with reduced hepatic inflammation, suppressed hepatic lipogenesis, and attenuated ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Evaluation of Types and Amounts of Fatty Acid Content in some most Consumed Iranian Fast Foods

open access: yesمجله دانشکده پزشکی اصفهان, 2009
Background:There is an important concern about the intake of foods which contains trans fatty acids due to their harmful effects on human health. Although adverse affects of trans fatty acids on the cardiovascular system were established, but a few data ...

Sex-specific effect of dietary fatty acids on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition
BackgroundNon-alcoholic fatty liver disease is the most common chronic hepatic disease worldwide. Dietary fatty acid is tightly associated with the development of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease but few large-scale and in-depth clinical researches have

Dietary cyclic fatty acids derived from linolenic acid do not exhibit intrinsic toxicity in the rat during gestation

open access: yesAnimal, 2008
Heating oils and fats may lead to cyclization of polyunsaturated fatty acids, especially those showing multiple double bonds like linolenic acid. Cyclohexenyl and cyclopentenyl fatty acids are subsequently present in some edible oils and these were ...
