A Fault Tolerance Method for Multiple Current Sensor Offset Faults in Grid-Connected Inverters

open access: yesMachines, 2023
Three-phase grid-connected inverters have been widely used in the distributed generation system, and the current sensor has been applied in closed-loop control in inverters. When the current sensor offset faults occurs, partial fault features of multiple

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Fault distance estimation-based protection scheme for DC microgrids

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
The DC microgrid has become a typical distribution network due to its excellent performances. However, a well-designed protection scheme still remains to be a challenge for DC microgrids.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Apparatus including a plurality of spaced transformers for locating short circuits in cables [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
A cable fault locator is described for sensing faults such as short circuits in power cables. The apparatus includes a plurality of current transformers strategically located along a cable.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Surge Current Interruption Capability and Failure Mechanisms of Discrete IGBTs Under Hard and Soft Switching in Hybrid DC Circuit Breakers

open access: yesIEEE Access
Hybrid circuit breakers (HCBs) represent a new generation of circuit breakers that combine the advantages of mechanical breakers (MBs) and solid-state circuit breakers (SSCBs), offering fast interruption speeds and low on-state losses without requiring ...

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

A Comparative Analysis of MDSC-Based Phasor Estimation Technique for Digital Relays in Power System Protection

open access: yesIEEE Access
Decaying DC offset frequently emerges as a major issue in power systems, especially under fault conditions. This leads to a distortion in the current waveform associated with the fault, which could significantly challenge protective and control ...
