Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Combined Deep and Shallow Knowledge in a Unified Model for Diagnosis by Abduction [PDF]

open access: yes
Fault Diagnosis in real systems usually involves human expert’s shallow knowledge (as pattern causes-effects) but also deep knowledge (as structural / functional modularization and models on behavior).

A Scheme on Indoor Tracking of Ship Dynamic Positioning Based on Distributed Multi-Sensor Data Fusion

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2017
Investigating the model ship dynamic positioning system by simulating the actual sea conditions in the laboratory can not only avoid the risks caused by the directly experiments on a true ship, but also reduce the costs. With the purpose of realizing the

Automated post-fault diagnosis of power system disturbances [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In order to automate the analysis of SCADA and digital fault recorder (DFR) data for a transmission network operator in the UK, the authors have developed an industrial strength multi-agent system entitled protection engineering diagnostic agents (PEDA).

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Laboratory Research on Fracture-Supported Shielding Temporary Plugging Drill-In Fluid for Fractured and Fracture-Pore Type Reservoirs

open access: yesJournal of Chemistry, 2017
Based on fractures stress sensitivity, this paper experimentally studies fracture-supported shielding temporary plugging drill-in fluid (FSDIF) in order to protect fractured and fracture-pore type formation. Experimental results show the FSDIF was better

An Experimental Study of Clogging Fault Diagnosis in Heat Exchangers Based on Vibration Signals

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2016
The water-circulating heat exchangers employed in petrochemical industrials have attracted great attention in condition monitoring and fault diagnosis. In this paper, an approach based on vibration signals is proposed.

Domain Adaptive Transfer Learning for Fault Diagnosis

open access: yes, 2019
Thanks to digitization of industrial assets in fleets, the ambitious goal of transferring fault diagnosis models fromone machine to the other has raised great interest. Solving these domain adaptive transfer learning tasks has the potential to save large

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...
