Typical Fault Estimation and Dynamic Analysis of a Leader-Follower Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Formation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 2021
In this paper, the typical fault estimation and dynamic analysis are presented for a leader-follower unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) formation system with external disturbances.

Thermodynamic Estimation of Transformer Fault Severity

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2015
Conventional practice for transformer dissolved gas analysis (DGA) is to use concentrations of several fault gases, with or without total dissolved combustible gas, for evaluating apparent fault severity. We suggest a simpler approach based on the normalized energy intensity (NEI), a quantity related directly to fault energy dissipated within the ...

On fault tolerant control structures incorporating fault estimation [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Control Sciences, 2016
AbstractThe paper provides the minimal necessary modifications of linear matrix inequality conditions for the mixed H2/H∞control design as well as for the augmented observer-based fault estimation to be mutually compatible in joint design of integrated fault estimation and fault tolerant control.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Reducing the Effects of Inaccurate Fault Estimation in Spacecraft Stabilization

open access: yesJournal of Aerospace Technology and Management, 2017
Reference Governor is an important component of Active Fault Tolerant Control. One of the main reasons for using Reference Governor is to adjust/modify the reference trajectories to maintain the stability of the post-fault system, especially when a ...

Decentralized Fuzzy Observer-Based Fault Estimation for Nonlinear Large-Scale Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access
This paper presents a fault estimation technique based on the decentralized fuzzy observer for nonlinear large-scale systems, which are considered to be consisted of fuzzy subsystems and uncertain interconnections.

Real-Time Estimation of Fault Rupture Extent Using Envelopes of Acceleration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We present a new strategy to estimate the geometry of a rupture on a finite fault in real time for earthquake early warning. We extend the work of Cua and Heaton who developed the virtual seismologist (VS) method (Cua, 2005), which is a Bayesian approach

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.
