Single-phase grounding fault identification and fault line selection for compensation grid

Proceedings of The 7th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference, 2012
A new grounding fault line selection method based on small-world network theory is proposed in order to solve the problems existing in grounding fault line selection device of compensation grid, such as that the correct rate of grounding fault line selection is not high and the selection device cannot recognize high-impedance and low-impedance ...

A New Method for Fault line Selection of Four-Parallel Transmission Lines

2010 Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference, 2010
Based on the theory of twelve sequence components, this paper analyzes the single circuit line fault characteristics of four-parallel transmission lines on the same tower. By use of the relationship of different amplitudes and phases between each sequence components, a new method is proposed for fault line selection of four-parallel transmission lines.

Faulted Phase Selection for Half-Wavelength Power Transmission Lines

2018 IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting (PESGM), 2018
In this work, a novel faulted phase selection algorithm is proposed to be used for distance protection applied to half-wavelength power transmission lines. These lines represent an alternating current solution for very-long point-to-point interconnections as an alternative to HVDC.

Incremental Power Improves Relay Selectivity to Transmission Line Faults

Journal of The Institution of Engineers (India): Series B, 2018
A research work published in 2014 reported a novel relaying principle for protection of transmission lines using signum function of instantaneous power flows at the two ends of the line. Subsequently, a detailed study of this relaying principle to evaluate its selectivity (sensitivity to detect all internal faults and stability on external faults and ...

Traveling waves based fault line selection using sparse representation

2019 IEEE 8th International Conference on Advanced Power System Automation and Protection (APAP), 2019
Traveling wave method has been proved to be effective in fault line selection of power distribution system with the neutral non-effectively grounded. However, it can be easily disturbed by non-faulty traveling wave when selecting the line. For this reason, this paper proposes a new traveling wave line selection method based on sparse representation, in

Attribute selection for fault location recognition in transmission lines

2006 IEEE Power Engineering Society General Meeting, 2006
After a severe disturbance due to an insulation failure in a transmission line, the precise fault location is a critical problem for the maintenance crew. In order to avoid further economical and social costs, fault diagnosis has to be performed as soon as possible.

Fault Phase Selection Method for Half-Wavelength Transmission Lines

2019 IEEE 3rd International Electrical and Energy Conference (CIEEC), 2019
In this paper, a novel faulted phase selection scheme is proposed for time delay longitudinal protection and distance protection applied to half-wavelength power transmission lines. The authors describe the principle of a faulted phase selection scheme for half-wavelength power transmission lines using the fault superimposed voltage and current sampled

Fault line selection method of DC distribution network based on transient current fault component

2020 7th International Forum on Electrical Engineering and Automation (IFEEA), 2020
When a unipolar ground fault occurs in a medium-voltage flexible DC distribution network based on a two-level converter (voltage sourced converter, VSC)., the fault current will rise rapidly, and it is necessary to quickly find out the line where the fault occurs.
