Drug-coated balloons vs drug-eluting stents for the treatment of large native coronary artery disease. Meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

open access: yesREC: Interventional Cardiology (English Ed.)
Introduction and objectives: To compare the effects of drug-coated balloon (DCB) vs drug-eluting stent (DES) in patients presenting with de novo large vessel coronary artery disease (CAD).

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Interpenetrated (8,3)-c and (10,3)-b Metal–Organic Frameworks Based on {Fe III 3 } and {Fe III 2 Co II } Pivalate Spin Clusters

open access: yes, 2014
MOFs composed of interpenetrated (8,3)-c and (10,3)-b coordination networks based on trinuclear Fe(III) and Fe(III)/Co(II) pivalate clusters and N-donor organic linkers were synthesized and ...

The five-to-six-coordination transition of ferric human serum heme-albumin is allosterically-modulated by ibuprofen and warfarin: a combined XAS and MD study.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Human serum albumin (HSA) is involved physiologically in heme scavenging; in turn, heme-albumin (HSA-heme-Fe) displays globin-like properties. Here, the allosteric effect of ibuprofen and warfarin on the local atomic structure around the ferric heme-Fe ...

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

The Influence of Sulfides on Soluble Organic-Fe(III) in Anoxic Sediment Porewaters

open access: yes, 2002
Solid and colloidal iron oxides are commonly involved in early diagenesis. More readily available soluble Fe(III) should accelerate the cycling of iron (Fe) and sulfur (S) in sediments. Experiments with synthetic solutions (Taillefert et al. 2000) showed

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Does As(III) interact with Fe(II), Fe(III) and organic matter through ternary complexes?

open access: yes, 2016
International audienceUp until now, only a small number of studies have been dedicated to the binding processes of As(III) with organic matter (OM) via ionic Fe(III) bridges; none was interested in Fe (II). Complexation isotherms were carried out with As(

Iron homeostasis disruption and lipid peroxidation in skeletal muscle during short‐term immobilization

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
14‐day casting‐induced immobilization reduced gastrocnemius muscle mass and increased non‐heme iron and ferritin heavy chain levels. Despite iron accumulation, transferrin receptor 1 and iron regulatory protein 2 were paradoxically upregulated. Lipid peroxidation was elevated without compensatory antioxidant responses.

Coprecipitation thermodynamics of iron(II–III) hydroxysulphate green rust from Fe(II) and Fe(III) salts

open access: yes, 2003
International audienceIron(II–III) hydroxysulphate GR(SO42−) was prepared by precipitating a mixture of Fe(II) and Fe(III) sulphate solutions with NaOH, accompanied in most cases by iron(II) hydroxide, spinel iron oxide(s) or goethite.
