DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

Broadly Neutralizing Antibody Characteristics in Hepatitis C Virus Infection and Implications for Vaccine Design

open access: yesVaccines
Despite the use of direct-acting antiviral medications to treat hepatitis C virus (HCV), over a million people are newly infected each year, highlighting the need for a prophylactic vaccine.

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Tradeoff directions in multiobjective optimization problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Multiobjective optimization problems (MOP) typically have conflicting objectives wherein a gain in one objective is at the expense of another. Tradeoff directions, which measure the change in some objectives relative to changes in others, provide ...

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...

A computer code for solving medium sized non-linear programming problems by the method of feasible directions. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
A computer code, FEASBL, is developed to maximize a non-linear objective function over a convex feasible region. The feasible region is defined by a set of non-linear and linear constraints on the variables.

A Survey on Automated Pain Recognition and Assessment Using Multimodal

open access: yesCybernetics and Information Technologies
Practical pain assessment is essential in clinical practice. However, conventional methods for pain assessment depend primarily on patients’ self-reports, which are not feasible for non-communicative individuals, such as neonates and unconscious patients.

Epigenetic heterogeneity and plasticity in therapy‐induced tumor states through single‐cell multi‐omics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell multi‐omics reveals epigenetic heterogeneity across therapy‐adaptive tumor states, including quiescent/dormant, drug‐tolerant persister, and EMT‐like phenotypes. By linking regulatory features with state‐associated biomarkers, these approaches inform biomarker‐guided therapeutic strategies for evolving tumors.

Holding Corporate Social Responsibility to account: its applicability in tourism development [PDF]

open access: yes
Tourism was introduced in Elmina and Cape Coast, (Ghana, Africa) home to three World Heritage Sites (slave dungeons during transatlantic slave trade) as a means to poverty reduction. However, almost fifteen years later, this was not achieved.

Feasible Direction Methods for Constrained Nonlinear Optimization : Suggestions for Improvements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This thesis concerns the development of novel feasible direction type algorithms for constrained nonlinear optimization. The new algorithms are based upon enhancements of the search direction determination and the line search steps.
