Planar compact array with parasitic elements for MIMO systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A compact planar array with parasitic elements is studied to be used in MIMO systems. Classical compact arrays suffer from high coupling which makes correlation and matching efficiency to be worse.

Porcine Feed Efficiency-Associated Intestinal Microbiota and Physiological Traits: Finding Consistent Cross-Locational Biomarkers for Residual Feed Intake

open access: yesmSystems, 2019
Interest in the role of intestinal microbiota in determining FE in pigs has increased in recent years. However, it is not known if the same FE-associated bacteria are found across different rearing environments.

Detecting Dengue in Flight: Leveraging Machine Learning to Analyze Mosquito Flight Patterns for Infection Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
Dengue infection alters mosquito flight behavior, enabling detection using machine learning classifiers. This study analyzes 3D flight trajectories and evaluates multiple models, showing that longer sequence lengths improve classification performance.

Growth, fat metabolism and hepatic health in largemouth bass fed varying fat-level diets

open access: yesAquaculture Reports
This 60-day experiment investigated the influences of growth, fat metabolism and hepatic health of largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) fed varying fat diets. 225 fish (34 ± 0.04 g) were divided into three groups and fed diets with fat levels of 10 % (

Effects of choice feeding a completed feed and corn on the performance of broilers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Poultry feeding systems are likely to change for increased efficiency of production. An experiment was conducted to compare the response of broilers to choice feeding of corn with a standard broiler ration.

Unrolling of Syngonium podophyllum: Functional Anatomy, Morphology and Modelling of Its Peltate Leaves

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The unrolling of the peltate leaves in Syngonium podophyllum is analyzed and quantified (left‐hand side to center). These measurements serve to verify a mathematical model for leaf unrolling based on the model used in Schmidt (2007). An additional formula for obtaining a layer mismatch from a prescribed radius is derived.

Identification of a metabolomic signature associated with feed efficiency in beef cattle

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2019
Ruminants play a great role in sustainable livestock since they transform pastures, silage, and crop residues into high-quality human food (i.e. milk and beef).
