Static and Dynamic Behavior of Novel Y‐Shaped Sandwich Beams Subjected to Compressive Loadings: Integration of Supervised Learning and Experimentation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, the mechanical response of Y‐shaped core sandwich beams under compressive loading is investigated, using deep feed‐forward neural networks (DFNNs) for predictive modeling. The DFNN model accurately captures stress–strain behavior, influenced by design parameters and loading rates.

A new engineering method for understanding extrusion cooking process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A new engineering method is proposed to understand extrudate expansion and extrusion operation parameters for starch based food extrusion cooking process through dimensional analysis principle, i.e. Buckingham pi theorem. Three dimensionless groups, i.e.

Variation in carbon footprint of milk due to management differences between Swedish dairy farms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
To identify mitigation options to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from milk production (i.e. the carbon footprint (CF) of milk), this study examined the variation in GHG emissions among dairy farms using data from previous CF studies on Swedish ...

A Statement on State and Feeding Efficiency

open access: yesDevelopmental Observer, 2019
As every NIDCAP practitioner or student knows, a behaving infant continuously presents troves, if not torrents of observational information. The science and art of NIDCAP observations reside, in part, in the extraction of meaningful portions of these behavioral data.

Genetic Aspects of Feed Efficiency in Broilers

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1969
Abstract DIFFERENCES among individuals in their ability to convert feed into body tissue are important in determining net income from the production of broiler chickens. However, measuring individual feed consumption is costly and time consuming.

Mitigation of Cracks in High‐Performance Nickel‐Based Superalloys in Powder Bed Fusion Laser Beam of Metals Using a Metal Matrix Composite Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐performance nickel‐based superalloys are often not processible in additive manufacturing (AM) due to hot cracking. The findings in this manuscript propose an efficient method to mitigate cracking and enhance mechanical properties of these alloys by producing a metal matrix composite, contributing to the material and process perspective of the AM ...

A Comprehensive Review of Additive Manufacturing for Space Applications: Materials, Advances, Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing (AM) transforms space hardware by enabling lightweight, high‐performance, and on‐demand production. This review outlines AM processes—powder bed fusion (PBF), directed energy deposition (DED), binder jetting (BJ), sheet lamination (SL), and material extrusion (ME)—applied to propulsion, satellite structures, and thermal devices ...
