Design of Multiphase Compositionally Complex Alloys for Enhanced Hardness at Elevated Temperatures and Machinability: Comparative Study with Inconel 718

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study compares the mechanical properties of Inconel 718 with two newly developed compositionally complex alloys (CCAs). Inco‐like‐H alloy demonstrates significantly improved wear resistance, surface finish, and hardness, notably at high temperatures. This CCA requires no heat treatment and is well suited for additive manufacturing. Its performance

Rumen bacterial community structure impacts feed efficiency in beef cattle

open access: yesJournal of Animal Science, 2018
The importance of the rumen microbiota on nutrient cycling to the animal is well recognized; however, our understanding of the influence of the rumen microbiome composition on feed efficiency is limited. The rumen microbiomes of two large animal cohorts (

Bioinspired Materials, Designs, and Manufacturing Strategies for Advanced Impact‐Resistant Helmets

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores how bioinspired materials, structures, and manufacturing strategies transform helmet design to achieve enhanced impact resistance. Drawing inspiration from nacre, porcupine quills, beetle exoskeletons, and skull architectures, it highlights advances in auxetic lattices, nanocomposites, and functionally graded foams.

Farm-level Economic Evaluation of Net Feed Efficiency in Australia’s Southern Beef Cattle Production System: A Multi-period Linear Programming Approach [PDF]

open access: yes
Selection of beef cattle for increased net feed efficiency is a current major focus for research. At present the trait seems to be more apparent in Australia’s southern beef production system which is dominated by mixed farming enterprises.

The efficiency of using of Alfasorb in piglets feeding

open access: yesScientific Messenger of LNU of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnologies, 2018
Mycotoxins cause severe diseases in organisms of human and animals. They are difficult to diagnose, cause great economic damage. Sorbents are able to effectively bind and remove from the body through the digestive tract with a therapeutic or prophylactic purpose various endogenous and ekzogenous substances, microorganisms and they toxins ...

3D‐Printable Near‐Infrared‐Responsive Microscale Cantilever made of the Composite Consisting of Ceramic Particles and Graphene Flakes

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A near infrared‐responsive microscale cantilever is developed using a 3D‐printable composite based on photocurable resin consisting of sepiolite and graphene flakes. The material absorbs 1064 nm light, causing shape transformation with an average displacement of 1.3 mm in 1.7 s. Displacement is measured via video recording.

Effects of silybin on growth performance, antioxidant capacity and immunity in juvenile hybrid grouper (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus ♀ × Epinephelus lanceolatus ♂) fed with high-lipid diets

open access: yesAquaculture Reports
This research examined the impacts of varying silybin dosages in high-lipid diets on the growth, hepatic histology, immunity, and immune-related gene expression of juvenile hybrid grouper (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus ♀ × Epinephelus lanceolatus ♂).
