Despite vast research attention, the knowledge about central mechanisms of appetite regulation in teleost remains inconclusive. A common strategy in studies on appetite regulating mechanisms is to measure the response to feed restriction or - deprivation, but responses vary between fish species and between experiments, and are also likely dependent on ...

Effect of feed pH and non-volatile dairy components on flavour concentration by pervaporation
Journal of Food Engineering, 2011Abstract Pervaporation was used to concentrate acids, esters and ketones in model flavour mixtures. The characteristics of the feed mixture (pH and presence of dairy ingredients) were found to alter the pervaporation behaviour of the flavour compounds.

Effects of diet and time on feed on phospholipid fatty acid composition and beef meat flavour
Proceedings of the British Society of Animal Science, 2001The polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) of the intramuscular phospholipids are the most significant lipids in the development of cooked beef flavour (Mottram and Edwards, 1983). In lamb, differences in n-6 and n-3 fatty acid composition have been shown to be a major factor influencing consumer perception and acceptability (Sañudo et al, 2000).

AbstractObjectiveSilkie chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus brisson) is also named Chinese Taihe chicken, characterized by blue comb, green earlobes, black skin, meat and bones. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of spirulina feeding on the nutritive value and flavour of silkie hens eggs.MethodsA total of 280 Silkie hens of 42 weeks old were fed 4 ...

AbstractThe objective of two experiments was to investigate whether a delayed type of learning could account for the conditioned feeding responses of sheep towards novel food flavours associated with post-ingestive consequences (PIC) created from the administration at different points in time of a nutritive stimulus (casein).

The effect of adding a feed flavour to the diets of young pigs before and after weaning
Australian Journal of Experimental Agriculture, 1979Sixteen sows and their progeny were allotted to treatments in a 23 factorial experiment involving two levels of feed flavour (0 and 50 ppm of Firanor No. 24) in each of the sow, creep and starter diets. Weaning occurred at a mean piglet age of 26.9 days and observations continued for 31 days after weaning.

Abstract The low nutrient intake shortly after weaning is a major cause of post-weaning problems. Feed intake after weaning is strongly related to feed intake during lactation. Feed intake during lactation, however, varies considerably between litters.

Effects of feeding regime on lamb flavour
2018Following reports that grazing lucerne and rape had produced flavour defects in lamb, the aim of this study was to determine if any of the fattening regimes for store lambs in the ESCA trials of 1977 produced unacceptable aroma or flavour in roasted gigots and loins.
