Asymmetric pectocin M1 spot test inhibition zones and growth enhancement due to plant-like ferredoxin, but not adrenodoxin

open access: yes, 2012
a) Asymmetric pectocin M1 inhibition zones against P. atrosepticum LMG2386 due to plant-like ferredoxin containing proteins. Protein concentration for spots were as follows: pectocin M1 1.2 mg ml−1, spinach ferredoxin 20 mg ml−1, adrenodoxin 30 mg ml−1 ...

Microbial Community Dynamics in Marine Water: Influence of Hydrocarbon Type and Exposure Time

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Marine environments are frequently impacted by petroleum‐derived hydrocarbons, which pose ecological risks because of their toxic, mutagenic, and carcinogenic potential. Microorganisms play a crucial role in hydrocarbon degradation, and understanding the influence of time and hydrocarbon type on microbial dynamics helps improve bioremediation ...

Prebiotic aqueous reactions catalyzed by native nickel without hydrogen

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Serpentinizing (H2‐producing) hydrothermal vents are candidate environments for metabolic origin. They generate highly reducing conditions that convert CO2 to formate and methane in abiotic reactions resembling reactions of the acetyl‐CoA pathway of CO2 fixation. They also contain natural catalysts. Native nickel (Ni0), like Fe0, Co0, and their alloys,

The Electron-Transfer Kinetics of Spinach Ferredoxin with Strong Reductants

open access: yes, 1982
The reduction of spinach ferredoxin by V(II)-EDTA, Eu(II)-DPTA and propylene viologen was monitored electrochemically. The rates of these reactions were found to be 3.0 · 104, 3.2 · 105 and 1.2 · 105 M−1 · s−1, respectively, by the use of ...

Unraveling the active site cover of coproheme decarboxylase from Listeria monocytogenes

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
During heme biosynthesis in Gram‐positive bacteria, coproheme decarboxylase (ChdC) catalyzes the conversion of four‐propionate substrate coproheme to the two propionate product heme b. Its active site is universally covered by a flexible linking loop. This study identifies an important histidine residue, which stabilizes the loop in a ChdC homolog.

Characterization of a redox active cross-linked complex between cyanobacterial photosystem I and soluble ferredoxin [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
A covalent stoichiometric complex between photosystem I (PSI) and ferredoxin from the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 was generated by chemical cross-linking.

On the role of the acidic cluster Glu 92-94 of spinach ferredoxin I

open access: yes, 1997
The role of the acidic cluster Glu 92-94 of spinach ferredoxin I in the interaction both with the photosystem I multisubunit complex and the ferredoxin-NADP+ reductase, either membrane-bound or purified, was studied by kinetic characterization of site ...

Kinetic parameter prediction using neural networks identifies limitations to C4 photosynthesis

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Schematic overview of the generation of artificial training data and training of neural networks in C4TUNE. Summary Kinetic models of photosynthesis enable time‐resolved predictions of traits related to this key process and provide the means to identify factors limiting photosynthesis.

Intramolecular electron transfer in ferredoxin II from Desulfovibrio desulfuricans Norway.

open access: yes, 1993
International audienceIn order to elucidate the role of the two (4Fe-4S) clusters in ferredoxins and to determine whether an electron-transfer mechanism may occur between the clusters, the in vitro reduction of cytochrome c3 and cytochrome c553 by ...

Thioredoxin system modulates metabolic and stomatal responses to elevated CO2 in Arabidopsis

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Integrative model of extraplastidial NADPH‐dependent thioredoxin reductase/thioredoxin system‐mediated regulation of stomatal function, redox homeostasis, and metabolic responses under ambient and elevated CO2 in Arabidopsis thaliana. Summary The NADPH‐dependent thioredoxin reductase/thioredoxin (NTR/TRX) system plays a central role in maintaining ...
