Isocyanides as a Chemical Tool for Identifying [Fe]‐Hydrogenase‐Dependent Methanogenesis

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 17, 14 September 2026.
In model methanogens, [Fe]‐hydrogenase (Hmd) substitutes nickel‐dependent hydrogenases under nickel‐limited conditions. We determined the inhibitory effects of the Hmd inhibitor, isocyanides, on methanogenesis in a cell extract and in a cell suspension.

Inhibition of ferredoxin: NADP+ reductase activity by the hexacyanochromate (III) ion.

open access: yes, 1986
The small inorganic complex Cr(CN)6(3-) is a clean inhibitor of the ferredoxin: NADP+ reductase-catalysed oxidation of reduced spinach ferredoxin by NADP+.

Materials‐Guided Gene‐Ionizable Lipid Nanoparticles to Reverse Iron‐Associated Immune Resistance in Renal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 49, 3 September 2026.
ABSTRACT Iron overload is a common metabolic disturbance in cancer and contributes to poor outcomes in renal cell carcinoma (RCC), yet its effects on the tumour immune microenvironment remain unclear. Here we identify a previously unrecognized immunosuppressive axis in which iron overload downregulates the palmitoyltransferase ZDHHC12 in CD8+ T cells ...

Determining the Rate-Limiting Step for Light-Responsive Redox Regulation in Chloroplasts

open access: yesAntioxidants, 2018
Thiol-based redox regulation ensures light-responsive control of chloroplast functions. Light-derived signal is transferred in the form of reducing power from the photosynthetic electron transport chain to several redox-sensitive target proteins.

A theoretical multiscale treatment of protein–protein electron transfer: The ferredoxin/ferredoxin-NADP+ reductase and flavodoxin/ferredoxin-NADP+ reductase systems

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Bioenergetics, 2015
In the photosynthetic electron transfer (ET) chain, two electrons transfer from photosystem I to the flavin-dependent ferredoxin-NADP(+) reductase (FNR) via two sequential independent ferredoxin (Fd) electron carriers. In some algae and cyanobacteria (as Anabaena), under low iron conditions, flavodoxin (Fld) replaces Fd as single electron carrier ...

Hierarchical Assembly as a Design Principle: Structure–Property Relationships Linking Biological Architectures to Functional Aggregate Materials

open access: yesAggregate, Volume 7, Issue 9, September 2026.
Biological function arises from aggregates rather than from molecules. Comparing biomimetic systems on a common basis reveals three transferable design rules governing hierarchical assembly, interfacial gradients, and stimulus‐coupled anisotropy, and identifies self‐healing and single‐step multiscale integration as properties that do not transfer to ...

Identification and characterization of ferredoxin NADP+ reductase from Bacillus sp. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The aim of this experiment was to identify and characterize the enzyme ferredoxin NADP+ reductase from Bacillus sp. The gene was cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli system by using pEt102 TOPO vector as a host. The recombinant E.

Selective Formation of 1:1 Dyads of a Saddle‐Distorted Sn(IV)‐Porphyrin as an Acceptor With Donor Molecules as Axial Ligands for Photoinduced Electron Transfer

open access: yesChemPhotoChem, Volume 10, Issue 9, September 2026.
We have revealed that a novel 1:1 complex can be selectively formed with a saddle‐distorted SnIV‐dodecaphenylporphyrin, SnIV(DPP), and sterically hindered p‐ferrocenylbenzoate derivatives as electron donors and axial ligands. In the complex, the SnIV(DPP) unit works as an electron acceptor in photoinduced electron transfer, in contrast to the previous ...

Electron transfer between the reductase and ferredoxin component of toluene dioxygenase [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
