Reduction of methemoglobin by ferredoxin and ferredoxin-NADP reductase system.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1981
The changes in absorption spectra between 450 and 650 nm during the reduction of methemoglobin A, (alpha 2+ beta 3+)2, and (alpha 3+ beta 2+)2 valency hybrids by the system including ferredoxin and ferredoxin-NADP reductase were studied under anaerobic conditions.

Seasonal Effect of a Small Hydropower Plant on Benthic Biofilm Microbial Community Structure and Predicted Functional Potential

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 9, September 2026.
Biofilm microbial composition varies significantly; diversity is higher in spring and autumn. The dewatered reach shows the broadest niche and dominant stochastic assembly. Seasonal assembly shift: deterministic in summer, stochastic in winter. Nutrient cycling genes vary more among sites than seasons under SHP influence.

Structural and mutational analyses of the Leptospira interrogans virulence-related heme oxygenase provide insights into its catalytic mechanism.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Heme oxygenase from Leptospira interrogans is an important virulence factor. During catalysis, redox equivalents are provided to this enzyme by the plastidic-type ferredoxin-NADP+ reductase also found in L. interrogans.

Ferredoxin-thioredoxin Reductase: Purification and Substrate Requirements

open access: yes, 1984
International audienceIn the recent years, three systems capable of promoting the light activation of enzymes in higher plant chloroplasts have been described (Anderson, 1979; Buchanan, 1980).

Chemical Modification of the Active Site of Ferredoxin-Thioredoxin Reductase

open access: yesCHIMIA, 1993
Ferredoxin-thioredoxinreductase is an essential member of a light-dependent regulatory system in oxygenic photosynthesis. This enzyme is composed of two nonidentical subunits, contains a 4Fe-4S cluster of a yet unknown function, and a ...

Ferredoxin-NADP(+) reductase from Plasmodium falciparum undergoes NADP(+)-dependent dimerization and inactivation: functional and crystallographic analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The completion of the Plasmodium falciparum genome sequence has recently promoted the search for new antimalarial drugs. More specifically, metabolic pathways of the apicoplast, a key organelle for survival of the parasite, have been recognized as ...

Electron Bifurcation and Confurcation in Methanogenesis and Reverse Methanogenesis

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
Reduction of the disulfide of coenzyme M and coenzyme B (CoMS–SCoB) by heterodisulfide reductases (HdrED and HdrABC) is the final step in all methanogenic pathways. Flavin-based electron bifurcation (FBEB) by soluble HdrABC homologs play additional roles

Serpentine Biocrust Microbes Maintain Nitrogen Cycling Under Drought and Heavy Metal Stress

open access: yesEcological Research, Volume 41, Issue 5, September 2026.
This study highlights the complex interplay between soil geochemistry and moisture availability in shaping microbial communities within wetter and drier serpentine and non‐serpentine biological soil crusts. It demonstrates that both factors influence the structure of nitrogen‐cycling microbial communities and the processes they mediate.

Characterization of a Unique Pair of Ferredoxin and Ferredoxin NADP+ Reductase Isoforms That Operates in Non-Photosynthetic Glandular Trichomes

open access: yesPlants
Our recent investigations indicated that isoforms of ferredoxin (Fd) and ferredoxin NADP+ reductase (FNR) play essential roles for the reductive steps of the 2C-methyl-D-erythritol 4-phosphate (MEP) pathway of terpenoid biosynthesis in peppermint ...
