Mitochondria as a Possible Place for Initial Stages of Steroid Biosynthesis in Plants [PDF]
With the aim of thorough comparison of steroidogenic systems of plants and animals, transgenic plants of Solanaceae family expressing CYP11A1 cDNA encoding cytochrome P450SCC of mammalian mitochondria were further analysed.

Immunological comparison of ferredoxins [PDF]
1. Introduction The biological significance of ferredoxins in various processes, and the increasing number of them that have been isolated and characterized from bacterial, plant and animal systems, have stimulated investigations on the physico-chemical properties of these proteins [ 1,2].

Insights from 125Te and 57Fe nuclear resonance vibrational spectroscopy: a [4Fe-4Te] cluster from two points of view. [PDF]
Iron-sulfur clusters are common building blocks for electron transport and active sites of metalloproteins. Their comprehensive investigation is crucial for understanding these enzymes, which play important roles in modern biomimetic catalysis and ...

This study reveals the dual role of celecoxib in intervertebral disc degeneration. While low concentrations are protective, high concentrations induce toxicity by upregulating HSP90, which synergizes with USP15 to deubiquitinate and stabilize RBX1. This leads to degradation of COMMD1/ATP7B, copper dyshomeostasis, and ultimately, cuproptosis.

Two approaches to the study of the origin of life. [PDF]
This paper compares two approaches that attempt to explain the origin of life, or biogenesis. The more established approach is one based on chemical principles, whereas a new, yet not widely known approach begins from a physical perspective. According to

Ferredoxin containing bacteriocins suggest a novel mechanism of iron uptake in Pectobacterium spp.
In order to kill competing strains of the same or closely related bacterial species, many bacteria produce potent narrow-spectrum protein antibiotics known as bacteriocins. Two sequenced strains of the phytopathogenic bacterium Pectobacterium carotovorum

Presence of structural homologs of ubiquitin in haloalkaliphilic Archaea [PDF]
Ubiquitin, a protein widely conserved in eukaryotes, is involved in many cellular processes, including proteolysis. While sequences encoding ubiquitin-like proteins have not been identified in prokaryotic genomes sequenced so far, they have revealed the ...

A Metagenome‐Assembled Genome Catalog From the Global Ruminant Microbiomes
The Ruminant Gastrointestinal MAG Catalog (RGMC) is a comprehensive global resource offering 40,812 strain‐level genomes across 53 bacterial and 4 archaeal classes. It greatly surpasses prior efforts in scale and diversity, serving as an essential foundation for research in ruminant nutrition, microbial function, and methane mitigation.

Influence of Zn2+ and Oxygen Supply on Malic Acid Production and Growth of Aspergillus oryzae
ABSTRACT Malic acid is a valuable platform chemical traditionally derived from fossil‐based resources. Microbial cultivation with Aspergillus oryzae offers a sustainable alternative based on renewable feedstocks. In this study, a well‐established minimal medium for malic acid production, commonly used in previous research to ensure reproducibility, was
