Biomimetic Copper‐Doped Nano‐Aluminum Adjuvant Potentiates Therapy in Chemoresistant Acute Myeloid Leukemia

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We developed a novel copper‐doped aluminum nano‐adjuvant (CuNA) to overcome cytarabine resistance in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). CuNA effectively sensitizes drug‐resistant AML cells to cytarabine by inducing mitochondrial dysfunction and inhibiting HMGCR/GPX4 to amplify ferroptosis.

Identification of the two-component guaiacol demethylase system from Rhodococcus rhodochrous and expression in Pseudomonas putida EM42 for guaiacol assimilation

open access: yesAMB Express, 2019
A diversity of softwood lignin depolymerization processes yield guaiacol as the main low molecular weight product. This key aromatic compound can be utilized as a carbon source by several microbial species, most of which are Gram positive bacteria ...

Low-energy spectrum of iron-sulfur clusters directly from many-particle quantum mechanics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
FeS clusters are a universal biological motif. They carry out electron transfer, redox chemistry, and even oxygen sensing, in diverse processes including nitrogen fixation, respiration, and photosynthesis. The low-lying electronic states are key to their

Integrated Single‐Cell and Spatial Transcriptomics Reveal Cell‐Type‐Specific Immune Regulatory Networks in Maize Responding to Southern Corn Rust

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By integrating single‐nuclei and spatial transcriptomics, this study presents a stereoscopic landscape of maize leaf to Puccinia polysora infection. Epidermal and mesophyll cells initiate primary defenses via RLPs/RLKs and jasmonic acid signaling. Cell‐cell communication analyses further reveal the underlying the dynamics of the underlying immune ...

The Transfer of the Ferredoxin Gene From the Chloroplast to the Nuclear Genome Is Ancient Within the Paraphyletic Genus Thalassiosira

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2020
Ferredoxins are iron–sulfur proteins essential for a wide range of organisms because they are an electron transfer mediator involved in multiple metabolic pathways. In phytoplankton, these proteins are active in the mature chloroplasts, but the petF gene,

Adrenodoxin—A versatile ferredoxin [PDF]

open access: yesIUBMB Life, 2012
AbstractMammalian adrenodoxin (Adx) has been known for many years as an essential electron mediator in mitochondrial cytochrome P450 systems. Because of its ability to support several cytochrome P450 enzymes, it is involved not only in adrenal steroid hormone biosynthesis but also in vitamin D and bile acid metabolism.

Targeting Lactate and Lactylation in Cancer Metabolism and Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lactate, once deemed a metabolic waste, emerges as a central regulator of cancer progression. This review elucidates how lactate and its epigenetic derivative, protein lactylation, orchestrate tumor metabolism, immune suppression, and therapeutic resistance.

Heterogeneity of adrenocortical ferredoxin [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1986
Bovine adrenocortical ferredoxin (adreno‐ferredoxin) was purified from adrenocortical mitochondria by an improved method that included hydrophobic chromatography on Toyopearl gels. The purified ferredoxin was electrophoretically homogeneous. It was further separated into five fractions by hydrophobic chromatography on a TSK‐gel phenyl‐5PW column with a

Identification, characterization and molecular adaptation of class I redox systems for the production of hydroxylated diterpenoids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background De novo production of multi-hydroxylated diterpenoids is challenging due to the lack of efficient redox systems. Results In this study a new reductase/ferredoxin system from Streptomyces afghaniensis (AfR·Afx) was identified, which allowed ...
