Silencing CAFFEOYL SHIKIMATE ESTERASE affects lignification and improves saccharification in poplar [PDF]
Caffeoyl shikimate esterase (CSE) was recently shown to play an essential role in lignin biosynthesis in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) and later in Medicago truncatula.

Stress Conditioned Early‐Stage Screening in Biocatalysis
Standard enzyme screening often overlooks industrial stress. We propose integrating conditions like pH shifts, low oxygen, interfacial deactivation, and high substrate/product levels into early high‐throughput assays. By measuring stress‐relevant metrics such as turnover under stress, cofactor efficiency, and solvent stability, the enzyme selection ...

RNA-sequencing reveals the complexities of the transcriptional response to lignocellulosic biofuel substrates in Aspergillus niger [PDF]
Background: Saprobic fungi are the predominant industrial sources of Carbohydrate Active enZymes (CAZymes) used for the saccharification of lignocellulose during the production of second generation biofuels.

ABSTRACT A substantial proportion of fresh fruit undergoes processing, resulting in underutilized fruit by‑products (FBPs) that are rich in dietary fiber and bioactive compounds. Recent FBP valorization trends demonstrate that fermentation significantly enhances microbiological, nutritional, and sensory attributes, yielding value‑added food supplements.

Feruloyl Esterases as Biotechnological Tools: Current and Future Perspectives
Feruloyl esterases represent a diverse group of hydrolases catalyzing the cleavage and formation of ester bonds between plant cell wall polysaccharide and phenolic acid. They are widely distributed in plants and microorganisms. Besides lipases, a considerable number of microbial feruloyl esterases have also been discovered and overexpressed.
