Successful treatment of neonatal atrial flutter by synchronized cardioversion: case report and literature review

open access: yesBMC Pediatrics, 2020
Background Atrial flutter (AFL) is a supraventricular tachyarrhythmia. In the ECG tracing, it is marked by a fast, irregular atrial activity of 280–500 beats per minute.

Efficacy and Safety of Various First-Line Therapeutic Strategies for Fetal Tachycardias: A Network Meta-Analysis and Systematic Review

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2022
Background: Fetal arrhythmias are common cardiac abnormalities associated with high mortality due to ventricular dysfunction and heart failure, particularly when accompanied by hydrops.

Fetal arrhythmias: Diagnosis and management

open access: yesIndian Pacing and Electrophysiology Journal, 2019
This article reviews important features for improving the diagnosis and management of fetal arrhythmias. The normal fetal heart rate ranges between 110 and 160 beats per minute.

Identification of Fetal Atrial Flutter by Doppler Tissue Imaging [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation, 2001
A 26-year-old woman presented at 33 weeks of gestation with a singleton fetus with tachycardia. A complete fetal echocardiogram revealed a structurally normal fetal heart without signs of hydrops. The fetal heart rate was between 200 and 220 bpm. Evaluation of the rhythm with pulsed Doppler and M-mode scanning was not definitive.

Fetal Unguarded Mitral Valve Orifice, Aortic Atresia, and Severe Left Heart Enlargement

open access: yesJACC: Case Reports, 2021
Unguarded mitral valve orifice is a rare disease with only 7 described cases in the literature. We describe the first known case of unguarded mitral valve orifice with normal segmental cardiac anatomy, severe left ventricular dilatation and dysfunction ...

Fetal cardiac arrhythmias: Current evidence

open access: yesAnnals of Pediatric Cardiology, 2018
This article reviews important features for improving the diagnosis of fetal arrhythmias by ultrasound in prenatal cardiac screening and echocardiography. Transient fetal arrhythmias are more common than persistent fetal arrhythmias.

Idiopathic Atrial Flutter Associated with Dilated Cardiomyopathy in a Preterm Newborn: A Case Report

open access: yesDubai Medical Journal, 2021
Background: Arrhythmias in neonates are uncommon and usually affect newborns with a normal heart or associated with structural heart disease. Meanwhile, one uncommon type of supraventricular arrhythmias is atrial flutter (AF), which is reentry mechanisms

M-mode Diagnosis of Tachyarrhythmia Can be Erroneous Owing to “Pseudo 1:1 Atrioventricular Movement” of the Atrial Wall Adjacent to the Atrioventricular Valve Possibly due to Atrioventricular Constraint: A Case of Neonatal Atrial Flutter With 2:1 Atrioventricular Conduction

open access: yesClinical Medicine Insights: Cardiology, 2018
M-mode echocardiography has been playing an important role in the diagnosis of fetal tachyarrhythmia. We recently encountered a neonatal case of atrial flutter with 2:1 atrioventricular conduction.

Neonatal atrial flutter: Three cases and review of the literature

open access: yesThe Turkish Journal of Pediatrics, 2018
Atrial flutter (AFl) is known to be a seldom type of fetal and neonatal arrhythmia. Although it could end in severe morbidities such as hydrops fetalis or even death, with early prenatal diagnosis and prompt therapeutic approaches the majority of AFl ...
