Radiological Modalities for the Assessment of Fetal Growth Restriction: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesمجله كليه طب الكندي
Fetal growth restriction is a significant contributor to fetal morbidity and mortality. In addition, there are heightened maternal risks associated with surgical operations and their accompanying dangers.

Placental Malaria-Associated Inflammation Disturbs the Insulin-like Growth Factor Axis of Fetal Growth Regulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Background. The pathogenetic mechanisms of fetal growth restriction associated with placental malaria are largely unknown. We sought to determine whether placental malaria and related inflammation were associated with disturbances in the insulin-like ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

IJCM_77A: Predictors of fetal growth restriction in preterm birth

open access: yesIndian Journal of Community Medicine
Background: Fetal growth restriction (FGR) is defined as fetuses whose estimated fetal weight or abdominal circumference is below the 10th percentile for gestational age.

Fetal growth restriction in a cohort of migrants in Germany

open access: yesBMC Pregnancy and Childbirth, 2021
Background Migrant women may have an increased risk of adverse birth outcomes. This study analyses the occurrence of low birth weight, preterm birth and intrauterine growth restriction / fetal growth restriction (IUGR/FGR) in pregnant migrants.

Maternal inflammation at 0.7 gestation in ewes leads to intrauterine growth restriction and impaired glucose metabolism in offspring at 30 d of age [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Fetal programming associated with intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) leads to lifelong deficits in growth and metabolic function (Hales and Barker, 2013).

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Umbillical venous volume inflow and liver size in normal and abnormal fetal development [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
In this thesis the following research objectives were addressed: To calculate umbilical venous volume flow from cross-sectional area and flow velocity measurements with emphasis on: (i) the reproducibility of component measurements; (ii) normal and ...

Induction of controlled hypoxic pregnancy in large mammalian species. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Progress in the study of pregnancy complicated by chronic hypoxia in large mammals has been held back by the inability to measure long-term significant reductions in fetal oxygenation at values similar to those measured in human pregnancy complicated by ...

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...
