IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3-induced differentiation in a human promyelocytic leukemia cell line (HL-60): receptor-mediated maturation to macrophage-like cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
The human-derived promyelocytic leukemia cell line, HL-60, is known to differentiate into mature myeloid cells in the presence of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1,25[OH]2D3).

The Viability of a Tool for Fetal Health Monitoring

open access: yes, 2016
Abstract: Health monitoring has become widespread these past few years. Such applicationsinclude from exercise, food intake and weight watching, to specific scenarios like monitoringpeople who suffer from chronic diseases. More and more we see the need to also monitorthe health of new-born babies and even fetuses.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Surgical alteration of uterine space influences embryonic loss and fetal growth in the contemporary pig

open access: yesBMC Veterinary Research
Background Litter size is a key economic trait in the swine industry, and ongoing selection for this trait has increased ovulation rates without producing a corresponding increase in uterine capacity. Overcrowding, intensifies competition between fetuses,

Survey of the Definition of Fetal Viability and the Availability, Indications, and Decision Making Processes for Post‐Viability Termination of Pregnancy for Fetal Abnormalities and Health Conditions in Canada [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Genetic Counseling, 2015
AbstractThe purpose of this study was to explore the definition of fetal viability and the availability, indications, and decision making processes for post‐viability termination of pregnancy for fetal abnormalities and health conditions in Canada. An online survey of members of the Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors, the Canadian College of ...

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Physiological response to hypoxia in piglets of different birth weight

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2011
In the present study, we aimed to extend the characterization of the proposed naturalistic experimental model of piglets born with hypoxia by assessing the relationship between birth weight, intra partum asphyxia and gross indicators of ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.
