Nonlinear Dynamics of Scaling FFAs

2023
Fixed Field Alternating Gradient Accelerators (FFAs) that follow the conventional scaling law have – by definition – high order multipole components in their magnetic fields. It is the presence of these nonlinearities that in many cases determines several important properties of the machine, including amplitude-dependent tune shift and dynamic aperture.

Races, faces, and the FFA

Trends in Neurosciences, 2001
Building upon the well-studied social phenomenon that individuals recognize and remember faces of their own race better than faces of other races, Stanford University scientists have now used fMRI to identify the neural systems involved. In the study published in the August issue of Nat.

Developments and Prospects of FFAs at RAL

2023
Fixed Field Alternating Gradient Accelerator (FFA) has several advantages as a proton driver for high beam power applications. In particular, control of pulse structure can ben easily done by RF gymnastics. FFA is a sustainable (energy efficient) accelerator with the main magnets with DC operation.

Cold stress increases lipolysis, FFA Ra and TG/FFA cycling in humans.

Aviation, space, and environmental medicine, 1999
To characterize the important changes in the selection and mobilization of metabolic fuel during cold stress, six males rested for 3 h at 29 degrees C and at 5 degrees C dressed only in shorts while 2H5 glycerol, 1-13C palmitate and 6,6 2H2 glucose were continuously infused for 3 h in each condition to determine their rate of turnover (Ra).Metabolic ...

Design of prototype magnet for FETS-FFA

Capable of achieving a high repetition rate with strong focusing, Fixed Field Alternating gradient (FFA) accelerators have the potential to be used for pulsed high intensity operations. With no pulsed high intensity FFA ever built so far, a prototype machine called FETS-FFA has been proposed to study the FFA option for the next generation spallation ...
