Fiber Bragg grating strain sensor demodulator using a chirped fiber grating
IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2001A fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor demodulator using a chirped fiber grating is proposed. The demodulator uses UV-induced birefringence of chirped fiber grating to interrogate the wavelength shift of a sensor FBG. The demodulator is composed of a polarizing beam splitter, a polarization controller, a single-mode fiber, and a chirped fiber grating.

Fabrication of tunable nonlinearly chirped fiber gratings using fiber Bragg grating
Optics Communications, 2001Abstract A simple method for fabricating tunable nonlinearly chirped fiber gratings is demonstrated experimentally. A nonlinearly chirped fiber grating is formed when tension is applied to an etched fiber Bragg grating, whose cross-sectional area’s reciprocal varies nonlinearly along the length of grating.

A low cost, highly accurate and light intensity-independent sensor system for the analysis of fiber Bragg grating signals based on fiber Bragg gratings in the detection unit is presented. The setup is based on two fiber Bragg gratings used in reflection to analyse one sensing fiber Bragg grating.

In this paper, we report, to our knowledge, the first demonstration of the induction of long-period and Bragg gratings on surface-core optical fibers. Surface-core fibers described herein were fabricated from commercial silica tubes and germanium-doped silica rods by employing a very simple procedure.

Unidirectional coupled chiral fiber grating
Optics LettersWe investigate a unidirectional coupled chiral fiber grating (UCFG) with both helical refractive index (RI) and loss modulation. The two modulations form a π/2 phase difference in the fiber cross-sectional azimuth angle, which “breaks” the mode coupled reciprocity of the forward and backward propagation.

Fiber sensors based on fiber gratings
2013 6th IEEE/International Conference on Advanced Infocomm Technology (ICAIT), 2013In this paper, we present two different types of pressure sensors including a high-sensitivity lateral pressure sensor and a temperature-independent differential pressure sensor by using fiber Bragg gratings to be encapsulated in a polymer-half-filled metal cylinder.
